THE FACT THAT THEYRE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER ON THAT MF COUCH AND THEYRE REPLYING TO EACH OTHER’s WEVERSE POSTS
seeing yoongi being able to dance again was absolutely heartwarming. <3
ARMYS: “HELL YEAH, WE GOT THIS, WE HAVE NO FEAR---”
Namjoon: [chugging coffee to stay awake] “I’m nervous... am I shaking?”
ARMYS:
I’m as disappointed as anyone that BTS didn’t win, but I’m not surprised. The issue is that the Grammys are voted on by members of the academy and the nominations are selected by a “panel of specialists.” So it doesn’t matter that “Dynamite” has the most number ones or has garnered so many other awards. It doesn’t matter that Map of the Soul: 7 is the top selling album worldwide of 2020. None of that matters because the Grammys continue to operate in the shadows and continue to be gatekeepers. What we need is transparency.
The Grammys giving BTS the nomination for “Dynamite” under the Best Pop Dup/Group Performance is the very least they could have done. And to be quite honest, if they were to give them this nomination for any song this year it should have been for “ON.” Because of course, this song being their only all-English song shouldn’t go unaddressed.
“Dynamite” should have been nominated for Song of the Year, but are we surprised when “Despacito” didn’t win in 2017? Map of the Soul: 7 should have been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the very least, but are we surprised when My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy didn’t get the nomination in 2010? Or Nicki Minaj losing to Bon Iver in 2012? Not to mention The Weeknd not getting a single nomination this year.
The Grammys continue to play politics and when it comes down to it, not receiving a nomination or an award has zero affect on BTS. It doesn’t take away from their hard work or their talents as artists. It doesn’t make their music any less impactful and it definitely doesn’t change how we feel about them. BTS will continue to change the world through their music and make history for years to come and the Grammys will continue to become more and more irrelevant. If this week has taught us anything, it’s that the Grammys that needs BTS, not the other way around.
So lets drink our Champagne (or banana milk), congratulate and thank BTS for everything they’ve done for us. And stream the “Dynamite” MV because how amazing it would be for them to reach 1Billion views on the night of the Grammys?
ARE YOU GUYS WATCHING OMG IM SHAKING
