The entire fandom knows about the outfit swap art of them by now right? THAT was hot.
I just have trouble imagining them in any scenario where it isn't at least partially forced. Like we talked about Mello kidnapping Light instead of/along with Sayu. That could be fun to smut about.
But much like BLight I think they would find each other challenging and grating. Moonriver is easier for me to imagine because of their banter in the series. I'm really trying but for some reason my brain is struggling to picture this. Maybe it's because I don't typically write for either of them. I'd read a fic of it though, I'm sure it can be done in an interesting way.
Actually, I'd kill for a good fic where Mello gets his hands on Kira instead of Near. That has a lot of potential. If you lean into lawlight or mello's devotion to L you have even more emotional avenues to explore.
Prompt: Near and Gevanni freezing their butts off walking home in the snow then drinking hot chocolate and cuddling
Summary: Near takes Gevanni outside for a snowball fight. When he refuses, they go back in to warm up.
Authors Note/s: It's a little different from the prompt, but I tried too keep it similar. Happy (late) Holidays!
Blizzards were never fun, being snowed in and unable to move around freely. It was a pain, and Near did not have the time to deal with it. Unfortunately, the rest of the SPK insisted on waiting out the storm so no one would get injured, or frostbite, or anything of the sort. Waiting so long only made Near aggravated, as patience isn’t something he has quite the abundance of. Snow could only last so long, but if it lasted any longer, Near would make the rest of his comrades shovel out enough room so that he could leave.
Lucky for the SPK, the blizzard ended before that plan would have to arise. Near was still angry that they lost so much time when they could have been investigating the Kira case further, but was glad that the period of snow was over. There were many things he wanted to do, and a few of them weren’t related to the case at all. Some traditions he learned at Wammy’s die hard, and he wouldn’t miss them for the world.
Before leaving to the outside world, Near assigned everyone to their different jobs, and made sure everyone was doing it right. Then, Near called upon Gevanni, asking him to accompany him on a small outing. Of course, Gevanni complied, all considering Near is his boss.
Gevanni helped Near put on some of his warmest clothes, persisting of a couple holiday sweaters, a large jacket, a fluffy hat, a scarf, and gloves. He wore something similar to Near, in different colors and obviously sizes. Near complained that the multitude of clothes was too uncomfortable, but had to bear with it for the sake of not freezing his ass off.
Near told Gevanni they would be going out to buy some things that they were running low on- more legos, some action figures, maybe some more dice. As they left the building, however, Near picked up a chunk of snow and threw it right at Gevanni. Needless to say, the brunet was very surprised. It wasn’t normal behavior for Near, and disregarding that, he’d never thought anyone in the SPK would throw snow at him.
“What’s the matter, Gevanni?” The white haired boy questioned, sending a flat but curious look up to the taller man. “Haven’t you ever felt a snowball before? It’s traditional for many people to throw snow at others during this time of year.” A small yet sly smile crossed Near’s face, sending a challenging look up to Gevanni.
“Near… We have work to do, you know? I thought we had important jobs to finish.” Gevanni looked down at his boss, wiping the snow off his face and clothes. Near scowled at him and stood, wiping his clothes off as well.
“Alright, it seems even you don't think we have time for this. It's still freezing outside, so we better go back in." Near held a small frown but he made his way inside with Gevanni. Once back in, Gevanni helped Near undress until he was only wearing one fluffy sweater and a pair of warm pajama pants and socks. Gevanni wore similar.
Though they were indoors again, they were both very cold from their short time outside. Polar vortexes can do that to you, huh?
"Gevanni, make some hot chocolate. Marshmallows and whip cream, too. One for you and one for me." Commanding Gevanni to this small job, the white haired boy took a seat on a couch, watching different footage of Kira worshiping networks. Disgusting. Every single one of these damned idiots.
Eyes trained on the videos, Near patiently waited for his second best to return. A few minutes passed, and Gevanni entered the room with two hot cups of hot chocolate, a pleased smile gracing his face.
"Did you put-"
"Yes, one big marshmallow cut into four pieces," the brunet laughed, taking it over to Near. "I still don't understand what's wrong with four small marshmallows."
"They don't have the same flavor. The big ones are better." Near took the cup, blowing at the top with the steam for a few seconds. He seemed to ponder something for a moment before speaking again. "Sit with me, Gevanni. Take a few minutes. Relax a bit."
That was odd, Gevanni thought, but complied, taking a seat next to Near.
"Tell me, Gevanni, who would you suspect out of these people? Go ahead, take your time."
Gevanni frowned, looking from screen to screen. He couldn't observe them all at once like Near, and didn't have a definite suspect. Not even a clue.
"I don't know. I'm not like you, Near."
"I know. I simply wanted a bit of insight, a second opinion."
For a few more minutes, there was silence as the two drank their hot chocolate. About five more minutes and they both were done, the cups deposited neatly on a table close by. Near requested Gevanni to sit with him a while longer, since working alone could be rather, well, lonely. At least from time to time.
“I’m still cold,” Near stated flatly, looking up to the older male.
“I can turn the heat up.”
“No.” As soon as Near replied, he scooted closer to Gevanni, curling up by his side. “I want you to stay with me.”
Gevanni thought it was strange for Near to request something like that, but didn’t want to go against his boss. Honestly, it was interesting to see another side of Near. Cute, maybe. The brunet put his arm around the white haired boy’s shoulders, holding him closer.
“Like this?”
“Exactly, now be quiet. I’m watching the footage.”
The older male chuckled shortly, trying to watch the footage as well. It was still too much for him to take in, and it wasn’t exactly his area of expertise either. While Near watched, Gevanni traced little patterns on his arm, idly thinking of other things to do. Get prepared to trail someone at any moment.
Gevanni was ready to take his leave when he heard a light snoring from his side. Looking down, it appeared Near had fallen asleep in Gevanni’s arms. That… that really was cute. He couldn’t bring himself to leave Near alone on the couch. He settled back against the couch and closed his eyes, allowing himself to drift asleep, just like his tired boss. Maybe the cold wasn’t too bad, after all.
Title: On The First Day Of Christmas, My Lover Gave To Me

Prompt: Matsuda Giving Sayu a Christmas Sweater
Author's note: I really wanted to give you a LightxMello fic, but since the fic was going nowhere (and I really suck on writing Mello), I gave up. Hopefully, you will enjoy this one.
~~
“Matsuda, wake up!”
Sayu Yagami was shaking her much older boyfriend, Touta Matsuda, who was sleeping deeply on his bed. Two days ago, Sayu asked her parents to spend Christmas with Matsuda. Soichiro was so horrified he almost fainted until Sayu reassured him several times that Matsuda and her were just friends and that was she was just being a good family friend by visiting him and his family for Christmas. Now that made Sachiko almost faint because why couldn’t she just stay here and hang out with friends “her age”? That took even more convincing.
It was all a ruse. She just wanted an excuse to have a romantic day with Matsuda without her parents frowning at their “inappropriate” relationship.
“Matsuda, I’m serious!” Sayu groaned. The least she wanted right now was a snoring boyfriend on Christmas day. Especially with parents-in-law already awake. She decided to take a harsher tactic. She went to the bathroom and got herself a bucket of cold water. If this didn’t wake him up, she had no idea what will. Sayu set the bucket near the sleepy face and poured the water down heavily, almost suffocating.
“Wha—“ Words couldn’t be finished when Matsuda’s mouth was overwhelmed with cold water, splashing additionally on his nose.
Once he stood up from the violent tsunami to dry off, Matsuda regarded his frowning girlfriend.
“What happened, Sayu? Why did you throw water at me?”
“Matsuda, did you know what day it is?” Sayu rolled her eyes.
Well, yesterday was the 24th, today is the 25th. The 25th . . . “Oh, my God, it’s Christmas!” He said excitedly. He grabbed her arm. “Come on, Sayu. It’s time to open the presents!” Sayu let him guide her downstairs. Although she was still mad at him for oversleeping, she couldn’t fight the grin that was crossing pass her lips.

“And this one says ‘To Sayu from me’,” The older man, Mr. Matsuda, chuckled at his visitor, as he passed her the red-colored wrapped gift.
Sayu couldn’t contain her excitement as she opened the box. It was revealed to be a white hairbrush.
“Don’t look so confused, Sayu,” Mr. Matsuda started. “I bought that hairbrush because Touta told me that your hair was really pretty.”
Matsuda almost spilled his hot cocoa from his mouth. “Who, me? I-It was just a comment, I swear!” Matsuda’s deep blush caused the light laughter of the people in the room.
“I believe it is my turn to give my gift,” Mrs. Matsuda stood up to get the gift under the tree. “Touta, this one is for you,” She said as she set the box on his lap.
“Thanks Mom, I really appreciate this,” Matsuda replied politely. As he pushed away the lid and the colorful paper, the deep blush returned when a pair of white underwear faced him.
“M-Mom, why—“
“Didn’t you say you didn’t have as much underwear anymore? I was just doing you a favor,” Mrs. Matsuda chuckled against her hand.
Matsuda wanted to dig a hole underneath the Earth and stay there.
Even so, it was now his turn to give a present. Not just a regular present, but Sayu’s present. He worked really hard on that gift; she really hoped she would like it. Despite the fact they haven’t said “I love you” yet, he wanted her to let her know that this gift signified how much he loved her.
After taking a deep breath, Matsuda grabbed the shiny green packet from the small table and offered it to Sayu. “Merry Christmas, Sayu.” He said and then immediately took a deep breath.
Sayu’s eyes widened when she uncovered a reddish brown sweater with everything she liked plastered on one single piece of clothing between the thin papers: A few microphones, the back of Hideki Ryuga, the mascot of her current university, and sparkly snowflakes. It sounded messy and overwhelming for a sweater at first, but for Sayu, it worked for her.
“Matsuda, how did you get something like this?” Sayu managed to speak after having her jaw dropped for almost a minute.
“I made it myself,” Matsuda replied sheepishly.
Sayu’s eyes widened. “You did? How? I didn’t know you could knit.”
“I do knit a little,” Matsuda placed his hand on the back of his head, rubbing it. His words were coming off calmly. “But this time, I wanted to push myself because I wanted to give you a present that you would preserve for many years and since it was made by hand, I also wanted to be really meaningful.” He said all of this, looking deeply into her eyes.
Oh, Matsuda, I think I’m falling in love with you. “Matsuda, thank you,” Her eyes blinked out the tears. “You have no idea how much this gift means to me. And to prove it, I’m going to go the bathroom and try it on myself. I’ll be right back.” She grabbed the sweater and run upstairs.
Matsuda waited patiently on the sofa to see Sayu wearing his own sweater design. A sweater designed just for her.
This was turning to be of the best Christmas he has ever had, and all because of the love he was feeling for Sayu Yagami.
A couple minutes later, Sayu walked down the stairs showing off the new handmade sweater. Although it was a little oversized for her, somehow it gave the illusion that it fitted her perfectly.
Matsuda’s jaw almost dropped when he saw how beautiful she looked. A rush of satisfaction rushed through him, acknowledging that something that he created, something he worked really hard to get done, was now worn by his girlfriend.
“S-Sayu, you look—“ He stuttered.
“You don’t have to say it, Matsuda, it’s a wonderful sweater, thank you so much.” Sayu said softly, and she pulled Matsuda in a tight embrace.
Matsuda blushed at the sudden contact, but he embraced back, making her know how much he appreciated that she loved his gift.
“I love you,” Sayu whispered suddenly in his ear and Matsuda fainted.
