EoA and Flowers (Part Four)
Abigail: Sunflowers are hardy flowers just like this fun queen because that's my first thought when I see Queen Abigail, fun and bright. The exact meaning of sunflowers. It also symbolizes positivity and admiration for which I think Abigail has plenty as long as she's conversing with any royal or person that isn't King Hector.
Hector: Columbine, at least in Victorian meanings, represents foolishness and folly which I think we all saw in Hector. He was a fool and a jerk. But further research shows that columbines symbolize risk-taking (Hector's are usually dumb risk taking acts like kidnapping maraposas or daring Abigail to spear his ship) and fortitude, which I'm not sure, but he has good qualities too so why not.
Rebecca: Iris represents faith, of which was one of her main attributes in her debut episode with dedication to her Jewish faith. Courage, like when Rebecca managed to keep a cool head and keep the ship anchored in the midst of a storm, Rebecca has great courage that's for sure. Irises also symbolize wisdom, which I don't know why but Rebecca just seems mature to me and good with advice so iris it is.
Ixlan: I felt morning glories may suit Ixlan best even though they seem small and delicate. For one, it was apparently an important part of Mesoamerican ceremonies where they'd eat the hallucinogenic visions during festivals to Tezcatlipoca. Also red morning glories in particular mean passion and a strong heart, both things that I think represent the lightning warrior. Furthermore, they are flowers that get back up again so to speak, blooming and dying each day.
Antonia: Alstroemeria or the Peruvian Lily represent friendship, love, strength and devotion. Things that represent Antonia too from her close friendship with Elena to her devotion to improving and getting her dream job on the royal guard. Furthermore, she has strength not just physically but emotionally, soldiering on after her exclusion at first.
Julio and Carmen Guzman: Coriander means hidden merit/worth and if that doesn't represent the Guzmans I don't know what it does. First, Carmen's cooking, which initially watched you everywhere you moved, improved with the help of Dona Angelica's recipes and proved to be delicious. And Julio became the unlikely but much-needed common man to become the Magister of Trade, working from his humble beginnings to help his people. Also coriander is often used for cooking so it’s likely Carmen uses it from time to time for her recipes.
