Taejin Mission 044: Delivering Succour | Queen and Lightning

It all happened so quickly that Queen hardly had time to react. An urgent distress call had summoned her to the briefing room, and everywhere she looked there were soldiers and personnel running about. It was obvious that something serious had occurred and Taejin's Army was being called to help deal with the situation.

As she was about to enter the briefing room and receive her orders, she heard her name being called and turned to the source of the voice. Faris was just leaving the briefing room when she came to greet Queen; it had been quite a while since that first meeting in the medic's clinic, she noted to herself. It was good to see that said person was doing well even now.

"Miss Faris?" she murmured, slight surprise registering in her voice. How interesting that their next meeting would be in a situation such as this. "Likewise, good luck; and be careful out there."

Returning Faris' smile with a small nod, she continued onto the briefing room. Inside, another soldier was standing in the corner, back leaning against the wall. It was a slightly older woman with striking pink hair; the colour was quite unusual, as Queen had never seen anything like it before. Realising that they had been waiting on her before beginning the briefing, she took a seat and began to scan over the papers laid out on the table.

An Unexpected Reminder | Basch & Lightning

Basch hunched over the bar in the tavern. With a signal to the bartender, he had his glass refilled. "Thanks mate..." he responded, and picked up the glass to take a mouthful. Swallowing down the Scotch, the hard liqueur had a sharp bite to it, and he shook his head to dissipate the feeling. Putting the glass down, he said to the bartender "Is this new stuff? It tastes different", and the man replied "No, same stuff as usual sir, of course. We don't get much in the form of new supplies". With a heavy sigh, he turned away and said "I guess." 

Gazing around the tavern, he watched the bevy of young soldiers enjoying themselves.  Young men drinking with their friends, playing card games, even one or two trying to get some company for the evening. This army doesn't seen much more than a loose group of kids with weapons, no wonder the commander was desperate for me to enlist... He sighed, It's not like I've got anywhere else to go anyway. 

Finishing his glass, he took a look at the clock on the wall, and then began fishing around in his pocket for his gil to pay his tab. Putting it down, he turned to the man behind the bar, "Keep the change..." and began heading towards the door, but before he could leave, a pink-haired woman pushed the door open and walked in. Have... Have I met this woman before?

Occurs two days before missions 12, 13, 14 and 15.

Stormy Reflection | Squall and Lightning

Squall sat on a rock near the lake at the north-eastern end of the village, staring into its clear depths as he unconsciously switched between gun mode and blade mode with a flick of his hands. The brunette was so deep in thought that he didn't even notice rumble in the distance, skies graying in forewarning of a bad turn in the weather.

There were many things weighing heavily on the gunblader's mind. Most of them had something to do with a certain silver-haired ravager, whether directly or indirectly linked. And a great majority of those thoughts questioned his current strength, and whether it was anywhere near sufficient.

Those thoughts had been eating at him for a while now, especially in that mission to subdue the Woodwraiths, the first part of which he'd had to stand on guard without his weapon. While they had been lucky enough to avoid engagement with the two Woodwraiths at that point of time, the feeling had been extremely discomforting to say the least. That short time had left Squall painfully aware of how vulnerable he was without his gunblade.

And then there had been that emergency mission, to help Hope. Squall snapped his gunblade shut in a sudden motion, leaning forward and hugging his bent right knee to his chest, left leg hanging off the edge of the natural seat.

He was frustrated, even though he had made his decision that night. There were far too many things on his mind at the moment.

This posting is only an inquiry. Soldiers who partake in this mission should not expect to be deployed anytime soon.

((Responding to this post does not guarantee you the mission; we will assemble an appropriate party after we have determined which soldiers would have interest in responding to this call. Soldiers selected for Open Mission 002 will not be selected for this mission, as they are dependent on each other.
