Trust Issues | Lightning and Squall
She has done it. The pink-haired female received word from Taejin Headquarters, fortunately confirmed that she had been accepted and enlisted to Taejin’s Army, a full fledged warrior for the cause of protection from harsh forces of Gran Pulse. A genuine smile tugged on her peach pink lips, unable to hold back the obvious bliss and enthusiasm that painted her otherwise usually-somber features. She knew what kind of road lie ahead of her, and she knew as well that would not see her home for a long time, ultimately including her sister. But brushing those melancholic thoughts aside, she reassured herself that it was for the best. She would stake it out here—alone if she had to—if it meant fulfilling this new role she is about to play.
She never thought she’d see the day her eyes would be graced with the interior of the Taejin’s HQ. On the few occasions when she did visit Oerba, she only viewed the fantastic structure from the outside. One would suppose it’s funny how life can come back full circle. Destiny? Fate? She can’t really say she’d believe in that sort of thing.
She came here of her own free will, anyway.
Light blue hues reflected a light spark of wonder as she traveled to housing in which she was assigned momentarily. Opening the door, allowing herself entrance inside, she did a quick glance of the setting: simple necessities such as bed, table, chair, kitchen area, and bathroom. However, the female rushed to place her stuff down before departing again. She couldn’t fight off her anxiety. Though she would never admit it to anyone else should they see her, she really wanted to take the time to explore the area. In a strategic sense, it was good to familiarize herself with the environment so that she may use it to the best that she can when mission time commences.
And, well, this was the time to be acquainted with others. A feeling of dread washed over the female at the thought of it. Not that she never associated with anyone in her life, but she increasingly began to purposefully distance herself from others. Nothing personal, but it was becoming harder for her to get attached to anyone, or even form any sort of trust with another. She did not want to take any chances that could scathing her guarded heart.
Her quickening pace drastically began to slow when she spotted a group of individuals gathering together in one area. Narrowing her blue optics, she discerned that they were most likely the other soldiers who were already enlisted or have been a part of Taejin’s Army for some time before she came along. Something was churning her stomach. Nervousness? No, that’s not it. But generally, she was feeling tense. She wasn’t sure if she should even move any closer. Was it good enough to just stand from afar and study them at this distance? Her features remained hard as she waged this internal debate.
Fists clenching tightly at her sides, she was surprised when her legs had a mind of its own and brusquely carried her towards the other soldiers.
Even if they were to be her future comrades, could she really bring herself to fully trust anyone? Could she even trust herself that she would remain guarded in the remaining years she’d be here?
