Sirius waited until he could hear the snuffled sounds of breathing that signified all of his dormmates were sleeping. He then slipped out from under his covers and pushed his feet into his slippers before heading down to the common room in his silk pajamas.
He stopped at the base of the staircase and watched Lily silently for a moment or two. She looked worried, almost, not her usual self. And she hadn’t noticed him yet. After a brief pause to drink in the sight of her, Sirius coolly walked over and sat beside her on the couch where she took a start, emerald eyes wide as saucers. He his arm lazily on the sofa, then his head against his arm.
