Okay so maybe Kim Sangshik's betrayal by leaving Jinwoo in the double dungeon might have hit Jinwoo a lot more than intended because he had also been left once by his father in favor os saving others. Neither of them are at fault nor am I gonna defend it, but its very interesting how both fathers despite their diferent ideologies (Ilhwan prioritizing the survival of others even if it means sacrificing his life, Sangshik prioritizing his life to go back to his family even if it means sacrificing others) left Jinwoo in a state of lonelyness and with a burden that will carry his whole life, literally. It's just that even if one prioritized either chance, another person would still suffer on the end, and by pure unluck, Jinwoo was the sacrifice on both instances.
In the end they also both died in front of Jinwoo, which further would have pushed Jinwoo to a state where is unable to feel hatred over them because their death further indicates that his sacrifice was simply nothing, that being left alone waiting for Ilhwan to come back meant nothing when all he did was give Jinwoo a last hug (and mf Jinwoo had to get him out of the hidding spot too omfg) and that his sacrifice in the dungeon was for nothing too because Sangshik never got to spend the last days of his life with his family.
"But Jinwoo got powerful and became the monarch!" Yeah and yet with all the power he had at the time he wasnt there to save them lol, man's packing loosing streaks one after another.
