TW: Idk what it would be but racism and horror??? Body horror??? Dead bodies and death
I learned that they used Black people's skin for leather but I've never seen pictures. And then I did. And it does something to your brain. To see the brown leather. Shoes. Lamp shades. Booklets. Like it DOES something to you. You see those ancient books with skin-bound covers and it's like aahh creepy but so long ago (the way it's presented).
But BLACK PEOPLE from slavery to even after emancipation. That's right there. They were owned by people's great grandparents. They take the skin of of dead people. THEY EVEN USE THE HAIR for little "decorations". The absolute lack of respect. The physician from one of these accounts literally smiled and said he had no sentiment cuz he's a foreigner by birth and fought in the rebellion for the freedom of black people. The skin of black people is "thicker" so it's the better of any race—for leather. They highly praise it, way more than they'll ever praise our skin on our living bodies. "Beautiful pair of dark slippers, beautiful instrument case."
