I wanna rant but I don't have the energy

But basically: canon is important

canon is important, it's important you know what's going on with the things you find interest in. You don't have to follow canon, but going off fanon or deciding not to learn about the characters you indulge in is harmful to fandoms of any size, due to the fact you could accidentally be partaking in age gaps, ableism, (or fanon ignoring any/all disabilities of a character) misogyny, incest, racism, and other harmful stereotypes

Either because fanon isn't acknowledging things of canon, or because canon is genuinely harmful and watered down to look more enjoyable by fanon

These are just scratching the surface I think... But yea... Know your canon, and don't go off of what popular artists (that aren't the creators) say
