New buttons: “Reindex” & “Move to My Like”

Hi, likehackers!

1) Reindex. Sometimes our robots make mistakes and as a result you see links like this:

Now we have Reindex button, which reports us about broken links so we can find out what caused it and correct it in order to prevent such errors from popping up again.

2) Move to My Likes. Now you can move links you liked from “To Like” to “My Like” in one click.

Supplementing your own Web has just got easier.

We are constantly improving our filtering algorithms and indexing speed besides these minor improvements. We’re working on some huge changes and expecting the LikeHack to become more beautiful and easy to use as we will be adding new tools and features. Stay tuned!

Uncluttering Social

Hi there!

It’s me, Dmitry, back with some thoughts for you to chew on.

Bet you landed from one of your social feeds, right?

No doubt of that one, huh.

One-of-your-social-feeds… Hm. Feels natural. Feels like it’s been that way since the day one. Diversified and comfy: Twitter for sharing your expertise, Facebook for posting your drunk pics and a dozen of other ones for your food porn.

But is it as sexy as it used to be say one, two or three years ago?

No. It’s cluttered.

No doubt that you’ve managed to keep all your profiles you had in ’07 or ’09 to this day and I bet the only thing you get there is hell of a clutter. And that’s not the way to stay on top of the productivity chart if you have to spend up to 1 hour going through your Twitter feed like I do for example.

So here I sit cherry picking the tweets I find smart, articles I decide to read later, vids to check back on. Half of it usually goes right into my Instapaper, about a quarter – into my favorites and I retweet the hot ones right away. So here’s the question – who benefits from this besides me and the guys tracking user actions in Twitter? I guess nobody.

And this is where we’d like to see some justice.

Look, Internet is a cluttered mess. We share bazillions of links every single day. Yet we have no proper tools to somehow organize them. And that’s what we’re after here. We believe that we can make everything people share and like more useful by providing the right tool and service to help them create value out of what they put online. Thus making everybody more productive and happy!

This is only an alpha thought!

In our future releases we’re going to add a Social Filtering Mechanism so that people will be able to receive only what they may find interesting based on their friends activity.

Deciding to Like

A Bit of an Intro

Hi there! My name is Dmitry. I’m a web/music kid doing everything from writing apps on Ruby on Rails to recording productivity podcasts. And this is my first post for the LikeHack blog that I’ll hopefully be taking a good care of.

And getting down to business of sketching this one I decided to focus on the core problem and the gist of the main idea behind the LikeHack project that we briefly discussed via Skype with J and D last Monday.

It was incredibly easy for me to provide my understanding of what people at LikeHack are trying to build. And as a person from the outside world I managed to sync with their own vision they really made me believe in. And here’s why.

Cherry Picking Stuff – The What

It’s pretty much obvious that we’re living in the era of social mess. Everybody’s talking about their Tumblers on Twitter and gets criticized for it on Facebook as everything is being auto posted to everywhere. But who’s to blame?

We’re bombarding each other with witty articles, hype songs and viral vids that keep piling at the hell-of-a-rate so that the good old social feed no longer seems to be as useful and entertaining as it was back in the days of Facebook’s adolescence.

Of course we like the likes and retweet the tweets but where does it all go next? What happens with this great pic of you and your child holding the birthday cake, let’s say in a month’s time from the moment you tweeted it out? And don’t try to tell me that you have never dug down into this stack of hundreds of tweets in order to find it and subsequently frame it. And it applies to almost everything we’ve ever picked, liked or retweeted from the stuff in our feeds and timelines. We are so afraid of losing everything we like that we jump into creating folders, text files and bookmarks and that eventually builds up the same mess. And even if we manage to keep all our favorite stuff safe this way, we’re going to lose time looking for the right quote, recipe or book that we think we can make use of again.

And that’s the pain that needs to be fixed.

Deciding to Like – The How

Of course there’s no silver bullet… But what if I told you there’s a tool for you to keep all the cool things you’ve ever liked and re-tweeted? What if I told you that this tool makes it all organized and searchable providing one-click access to everything you love on the Web?

And this is what people at LikeHack put their time and effort in, really believing that it’s possible to provide the right tool for you to be able to save your time and energy when deciding to Like thus paying more attention to what really matters and making social more useful and entertaining than it’s ever been.
