I want an episode of star trek where there's an alien spaceship and all the crew member look like stock standard human-adjacent aliens, but the fem individuals all use he/him pronouns and the masc ones use she/her pronouns and then shennanigans and the crew think their translator is hacked or broken or something but it turns out that while the people it translated using she/her pronouns are the ones who give birth, their own language actually used pronouns / gender indicators in their language that would more closely map to the near-universal Federation member species gender concept of man, even if their sex might be categorized differently by the Federation. So there's a discussion about the importance of challenging your assumptions but also how it's important to give others more than surface level respect, and that means paying Quark to rewrite your universal translator. But the whole time the crew is talking about this, the aliens don't actually know it's happening (until they're asked by a crew member) because the translator is doing the wrong thing twice on their end, so Near the end of the episode they show a masc alien, now correctly translating as he/him man, who is pregnant. Maybe the captain of the alien ship or something.
please take this in good faith
