Finished sueding Lilac Nkiru last night. I let her sit overnight as I used a new glue and wasn’t sure of it’s drying time. Reese has always stated that her dolls were made with sueding in mind, and from personal experience you won’t get the full enjoyment of a Twigling doll’s posing without it. I use a full coverage sueding technique I learned originally from Den of Angels. I made this sueding pattern several years ago now and have been using the same one with small adjustments for many, many Twigling dolls over the years. I use a masking tape method in the joints themselves to make the pattern. I use real suede and various faux suedes. I like to use a thicker material in the hip joints then something thinner for all the rest of the joints. My suede supply has dwindled and my efforts to find suitable substitutes have thus far been pretty unsuccessful. But it’s been a good method and I’ve sueded numerous big girls and also the mini’s in this way. Lilac Nkiru has arrived, she is amaaaaazing! As usual her resin and casting done by @dolls_casting_service is immaculate. What a stunningly gorgeous doll! So awesome, that I stayed up too late on a work night to sew for her kind of awesome! In the meantime she’s wearing clothes and an Amidaz Beauty wig stolen from another doll. The green Doll Bakery eyes are definitely her’s to keep though. Green eyes are bomb in purple resin dolls. I’ll try to make myself let her go out for a faceup before the end of the year hopefully. As it is, I can’t wait to fully suede her this weekend.
