Hey! Did you ever make an i-Cybie shell removal video? If so, where could I find it? I have one coming in the mail soon and it would be very helpful. I plan to give it a brand new paint job. Thanks!
Hello, sorry for slow response -- I have not yet got a video out, but my advice is that the screws are a very soft metal and can easily be threaded to where you cannot remove them.
My toolkit for disassembling an I-cybie shell includes a torch, a small phillips head screwdriver, a larger phillips head screwdriver (You might have to play-by-ear; my advice is if you’re not sure what to use, try disassembling a few other robots first! I-cybies are intermediate I would say, I am not sure what level you are at so maybe you will be fine as you are ^^) and if your I-cybie’s body has screw caps, I use superglue and cocktail sticks. If you shine a light into the screw holes, you should see either a screw head, or a black screw cap. I have had the most luck in removing the screw caps with superglue and a cocktail stick, gently gluing the cocktail stick to the screw cap to pull it out. I am sure you could get a similar effect with hot glue, akin to removing a furby eye chip, but I have not tested this. You might also have luck trying to ‘scrape’ them out with a flathead, as they are t-shaped. Not all models have screw caps, however - I have found that all of my models in the UK have screw caps, whilst my American friends have never dealt with screw caps.
When removing the shell, I like to start off with the legs, then the head, and finally removing the body shell. It should all fit into place when you are removing them. Go gently, and slowly, so as not to thread the screws. I’m not sure if this is much help, but this is what I can remember off of the top of my head ^^
