college au, it's basically that spin-the-bottle game that leads to seven minutes in heaven in a closet at a house party, except where the bottle lands is not super clear so it ends up being veronica/betty/jug all together in the closet. (rd sideblog is lilibetts)
ooh, I loved this one, thank you!! I didn’t manage to get to the actual seven minutes in heaven, but hopefully it suffices!featuring bff bughead, baby bi betty, and sexy enigma veronica
“Lodge and Cooper, that’s hot.”
“No way, it landed on Jughead.”
“He’s never going to actually play, just spin again.”
Betty sighs, leaning back on her hands while everyone else bickers over how to make this decision of utmost importance. If you asked her, the bottle was clearly closer to her knee than Jughead’s. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking, hoping against hope that she’d end up playing the not-so-juvenile edition of seven minutes in heaven with this mysterious Veronica Lodge who’d been making eyes at her for the better part of an hour.
Plus, Jughead probably didn’t want to play considering she had to drag him to this party in the first place.
(She loved her best friend dearly, but sometimes he could be a real stick in the mud when it came to their debaucherous rites of passage, and she was not above shoving a beer or three his way until he loosened up enough to have some fun.)
“No, it’s clearly both,” Veronica pipes up, catching Jughead’s eye, before cocking her head and doing the same with Betty, who feels her breath stuck in her throat. “I want both.”
She can’t even turn to look at Jughead fast enough before he’s shooting back a breezy, “Okay,” straight and to the point.
Mouth gaping at him, she’s frozen as Veronica gets to her feet and holds out both of her hands to them. Jughead stands easily and all she can do is rake her eyes over the pretty picture they make - flushing when she realizes she could see right up Veronica’s skirt if she looked long enough.
The irony isn’t lost on her that she’s not having a sexuality-tinted crisis, rather one for her best friend. It’s the sudden shock of wanting him, too, that has her frozen in place, until he nudges her calf with his shoe, and she sees he’s holding a hand out to her now, too. “C’mon, Betts, stop thinking so hard. Don’t keep the lady waiting.”
It’s ultimately the comfort she knows she’ll find in him - knowing that at any moment she could change her mind, they could leave and go back to his dorm room to play Mario Kart - that has Betty reaching up and taking their hands.
Veronica’s grinning like the cat that caught the canary as they pull Betty to her feet. “Just trust me, we’re going to have a lot of fun.”
The words spoken quietly, just for the three of them, not a show for the rest of the party, give her a different, new kind of comfort that wraps around her and makes her feel safe. And as Veronica makes her way toward the closet, pulling the pair along behind her, Betty thinks she would probably do anything for them.
