Carlilly oneshot because I miss them
Lilly used two textures in the original release of the game's S1E2 because she was intended to be part of 4 comic book characters cameoing in the games (Glenn, Shawn, Hershel, Lilly Caul). DE and RC corrects this (the Remastered Collection improved a bunch of stuff, like the RV model, Clementine's backyard, light composition.) These carry into the Definitive Edition (DE is just a edited version of the Remastered Collection [S1-3]) as well for the most part, but RC is by far better in terms of lighting
But I still think that keeping TWDG's Lilly as being the same Lilly Caul in the comics would've made her wayyyy more interesting before leaving the motor inn group, especially if she was slated to return in any future DLC. Especially considering they already look the same because this was planned like months in advance before the novels lol. But then Kirkman and Bonansinga decided to write the Woodbury novels and it essentially retconned all of that so the Telltale team had to go back during EP3 and retcon it too 🙃
Prior to Road to Woodbury vs. Post-Road to Woodbury
I’ve recently played all of walking dead and have been (mostly) doing dumb drawings rn but most likely full ones soon✨
In 2012 I was just beginning to care about female characters (mostly just ones I thought were hot, though, if I’m being honest). Still had a ton of internalized misogyny going on, and felt like I’d never really found a female character I could relate to.
It was around that time that I was also starting to learn about all of life’s injustices via my Gender Studies courses in college, and was still very much under the thumb of my shitty father, and god, I was so angry at everything. It felt like everything in the world was so fucked up, and my home life was fucked up, and nobody ever really tried to help. It felt like I was fighting a one-woman war against the whole world.
2012 happened to be the year This Lady barreled into my life, scared and loud and angry as hell.
She was EXACTLY the kind of character I needed in my life at the time. In her I realized “Holy shit, female characters can rule actually”. She was the perfect vessel for all that directionless anger and pain, and complex enough to analyze for YEARS. She even got me back into writing after I’d pretty much abandoned the art, and through her I worked through and channeled so many complicated feelings.
Replaying the game in 2024, after more than a decade away from it, I still feel such fondness for Lilly. She helped me cope with so much bullshit. She opened the door for a ton of other “unlikeable” girl characters that I might never have appreciated otherwise. She made me love myself and my flaws more. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if not for my years spent analyzing and defending her.
So yeah, I just finished her arc in my TWDG S1 replay, and I just wanted to make a little post about her. It’s been twelve years and I still love you, you unhinged RV thief 💚
I feel like Nikki Rapp (Telltale's, The Walking Dead, Lilly caul) would be a good voice actor for Robyn Hill (Rooster Teeth, RWBY)
I don't know why, but any post or story with Robyn having dialogue, I hear Nikki Rapp speaking.
i don’t want to study so, here. have the fruit my procrastination bears.
high quality content lmao
