I'm a few days late, but I finally snapped the year end group photo (minus two dolls that are away getting painted)!
It is very tempting to change things up for the 2026 end of year photo to maybe do the large dolls and minis separately, but ffff...I love seeing them all mingled together. Unfortunately though, it is a huge pain in the ass finding the energy to get them set up together in a way where you can see most everyone.
I finally got to the part I was most nervous for: sewing gathered fabric by hand.
A thing about me is that I am really anxious about pricking myself with pins, and this is a part where I really can't avoid using pins. But I figured out a solution, and I feel very clever about it!
I pulled out a bunch of erasers from mechanical pencils, and stabbed all the pins into them. >w< Now I don't have to worry about being stabbed, plus the pins are less likely to fall out as I'm turning the garment around.
With that method in use, and very generous amount of fabric glue to tame fraying edges and press seams into place without the use of an iron, I managed to sew a sleeve cuff that looks halfway decent.
I also got a couple of eyes in the mail. Unfortunately, the blue ones were sent in the wrong size, and the green ones... aren't green. I'm still glad Roslyn has eyes now, and it's not really worth returning cheap eyes from aliexpress so I'm just going to deal with it for now.
Here's my progress with her! I'm really proud of myself for getting this far.
Introducing the new Rinne. Although the Chibbi Moon was absolutely gorgeous, proportion wise she just didn't fit my current crew as well. And when I visitited the Epic Doll Fair (A Dutch doll convention) I saw this lady and fell in love.
Luckily the owner had brought her there to trade. And even though it didn't click at the convention. After I informed if she was still up for trade and was able to trade my Chibbi Moon for this lovely Chibbi Newt! <3
Rinne is now a Chibbi Newt and will need a pink wig and lighter green eyes. But right now I am happy to have her!
