Baby Muscovies are safe after three nights. I tell you, this morning I was scared because Mama Muscovy had them down at the creek and it took me a while to find them. But, I was thinking about it and the prior water fowl bloodshed ~ When MM came here, she had led her life in a pen - caged - and didn't have any survival skills for free-ranging. Now, she's got game and she taught Papa Duck when he came. So, I'm feeling better about their chances. So, yesterday, Papa (Louie Williams) came home with this sweet girl for our sweet girl. This is Lisa Love and Lily couldn't convince her to go for a Barbie Jeep ride so they're hanging out in the playhouse (scroll to see). Lisa is smaller than Daisy Mae and so spent the night with the chicks in the pen. If you don't know, this is Jolene Delilah Rose (my pups get one middle name for when they are in trouble and the second middle name for when they are in big trouble). Jolene is sister to Dottie Sue Clementine (still thanking @leafandlearn for the excellent naming help!). We decided to add to our pup family almost a year after sweet Lily's pup Jackson (Outlaw Jackson) disappeared. Jolene was the pup we chose; but, soon the family that had Dottie realized they could not keep her so we took Dot, too. For a while, the new pups seemed to make Lily think about/talk about Jackson MORE; and, she does still talk about him regularly. But, Jolene has become a lovely pet/companion for Lily. She follows her everywhere and seems to know that's her purpose (I'm thinking about the movie A Dog's Purpose when I say that). Anyway, here is our sweet girl, a puppy with seemingly boundless energy, completely worn out from trying to keep up with Lily. I just love the story of and the promise I see in this photo.
