6) My muse is in love with yours, but your muse loves another. (Feel free to also send the name of the character your muse loves.) .... x.x haha
He said he was fine with a smile on his face, and like always, they believed him. Why shouldn’t they? They knew that he knew his place with Lily, so he didn’t bother. Besides, he knew how she felt, she told him the moment he kissed her, and there was no point in fighting for a girl who didn’t feel the way he did about her, right? It didn’t mean his feelings went away though.
He knew all the little things about her too. The way her nose would scrunch when she was upset with something or confused, the way she’d twirl her hair in her hand when she was thinking. He knew she had a small fleck of gold in the corner of her right eye too, hidden beneath all the green. He knew everything she’d laugh at, and everything she wouldn’t. It was the little things about her that made him love her. It was the little things that kept him up at night instead of sleeping. And he hated it when James pretended like he knew all of these things too, would say them to her face with an arrogant smug look on his face to impress her, even though it was Remus that told him about them. Like the fact that she had a smile for every emotion, and he could recognize them without words.
But he knew from the start that James and Lily would end up together. One could only fight against each other for so long before giving in, so he wasn’t really surprised when she agreed to date him, and even started to love him. He wasn’t surprised either when she said yes to marrying him.
He saw her on her wedding day. James was outside worrying his head, and Lily was shaking in her white dress. Cold feet, he’d imagine. She looked so beautiful he couldn’t even speak until she spoke his name.
"Remus? Remus. Am I doing the right thing? I mean, James and I… We fight so much, and I—”
"But you love him, right?"
"Then fighting doesn’t matter. All that matters is him and you. Nothing else." It hurt him to say it, even though James was his best friend and he made her happy, because there’d always be that big ‘what if’. What if he made her happier? But it was stupid thought, because the smile that grew on her face after was brighter than he had ever seen it.
"Thank you, Remus." And she kissed his cheek and was gone. Lily Evans was no more, but Lily Potter was just beginning. And it hurt him more than any full moon.
