couldn't help but notice the glorious salmon pronunciation discourse and I just wanted to hop in and say that I grew up in Alabama and I do *not* pronounce the L in salmon. But! Most of my other family members do. in fact I am often made fun of for my non L pronunciation. (I also pronounce pecan two different ways as well, depends on how I'm using it)
