Sometimes a fic author you adore casually mentions they’ve written a fic about two OCs. They do warn you it does not end well. But you read it and you fall in love with the characters and the depth of the world building. You also rage and cry and think, “Surely when she said it didn’t end well she didn’t mean it would end horribly.” You also suffer mild PTSD symptoms every time that fic is brought up in conversation.
… that probably isn’t selling anyone on it, but you should go read it. The development of the Hewn City alone is worth the inevitable heartbreak. There’s an entire city trapped beneath a mountain that we know very little about and @limeandorange went and worked absolute magic.
Because it is centered on OCs (don’t worry, the IC are fairly prominent) it tends to get very little love and attention, so if any lovely individuals out there want to join in on celebrating Miss Lime’s birthday, please please please, go read.

Cassian didn’t blink at her snappish tone. He propped a hand against the doorframe and gave her a crooked grin that only served to make her want to slam the door in his face. “Rough night, Nes?”
Not even seven in the morning and he was already there, judging her.
Nesta was well aware of how she probably looked to him: a drunken wreck in someone else’s shirt, hair tangled from sleep, and smelling of wine and sweat and sex. She could practically see the list of words running silently through his head—irresponsible, shameful, a waste of potential. She refused to shrink under his gaze, though, and narrowed her icy eyes, ready to hold her ground against whatever he’d come here to start.
When he didn’t add more, she moved to shut the door on him. He shoved a booted foot into the gap, however, before she could break his fingers. Her nostrils flared in frustration.
“Feyre wants you at the house, ASAP.”
