So this is my set of Harold Finch cosplay. Im rather chuffed with how they came out. The only item I bought for this was the teal tie. It was delightful to be able to pull out my fancy clothes for this. And yes, I know Finch wouldn't really wear a penguin tie, but I had it and Had to do the thing. Besides, a dear friend suggested that John got it for him and that is now canon to me.

I re-watched Ted Lasso's "Father Figures" from season 2 earlier this evening and I'm having a lot of feelings about how in an episode mostly about fathers and sons, Roy Kent steps up for his niece (plus his sister, by proxy) and his old teammate/ current coachee.

I don't think we ever hear about his father? We hear about his grandfather, who drove him up to Sunderland and left a scared and homesick 9 year old with a blanket (like a puppy) and a promise of bike riding lessons in the summer, and then died before little Roy came home again. And who, presumably, was the same grandfather who had a happy marriage by hardly every speaking to his wife.

Something something the cycles and the breaking of them. Roy, who is scared that he'll "infect" (oof, I have some feelings about that word choice as well) Phoebe with the worst parts of himself but who is always there for her and for his sister, sees Jamie dealing with the aftermath of an encounter with his father and is the first one to go to him, hug him and not let go while Jamie breaks down in his arms. One of the things I love about this show is imperfect people in imperfect situations just doing their best and healing themselves as they go. Roy consistently underestimates the influence he holds over people (the players on the team, Phoebe, arguably Nate, Keeley in a way), but when he sees someone in need of a "father figure," in his own way he steps up, even when it's clumsy, even when he hasn't a clue what to do or how to do it, he's always there.
