Holy shit, if Miranda is named because of iconic Australian film Picnic at Hanging Rock, does that mean that Lindy Darwin-Paul is named after another Lindy who was famous in the 80s??

I still thought that most people would accept that the Chamberlains were innocent when the truth had been revealed by such a thorough judicial enquiry. This assumption was short-lived. On the following day, a senior journalist interviewed me about the case. She began by telling me that there was a ground rule for the interview: ‘As far as I am concerned, that bitch is guilty, and I don’t want to know I’m wrong.”
The Chamberlain Case, Ken Crispin
This description is sufficient for any intelligent public that is not nitpicking in court. I don't like you, Mr Barker. I never have liked you. If you expect me to be polite to you, don't. I don't like your form of law and I don't adhere to it and it's -- reason for your type of law that the reasons for these courts in Australia are in such a mess.
Lindy Chamberlain to Ian Barker, Solicitor-General of the Northern Territory, Royal Commission of Inquiry into Chamberlain Convictions, as recounted in A Dingo's Got My Baby: Words that Divided a Nation, by Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton
I just struck gold tonight, friends!
I had totally forgotten that I had this book, but I'm glad I rediscovered it tonight. Australia Through Time is a compilation of news stories from Australia every single year from 1868 all the way to 1998. That's 130 years of history! Every year gets two double spreads, and contains transcripts of real news articles from the time, exactly as they were written and reported on back then. Smaller stories are included in the 'At A Glance' box running along the bottom of the page. In relation to its size, the book is so huge that it won't fit on my bookshelves at all. I have to keep it in a magazine rack, and it is heavy!
The 1986 pages in particular has my Newsreader-loving heart singing! It talks about Lindy Chamberlain release, the Russell Street bombing and Halley's Comet! Be still my heart! I've photographed these for you! Lindy is also mentioned in 1980, 1982, 1984, 1987 and 1988 too. She was the biggest news story of the decade, after all.
If you can get your hands on this, please do so! I found mine at an op shop for ten dollars years ago but I would've happily paid more for it. It's amazing and so in depth and fully scoped!
