It’s such a treat to play live music for dance performances, not something I get to do too often. A highlight at Lindy Focus was playing a clarinet solo behind these great dancers.

Lindy focus was so much fun. I did a pretty good job of listening to my body, flirted a ton, and had some great dances. I managed to get out of my head enough to do Well in a jam circle (!!) and kissed the cute guy from Philly. I wasnt really sure how he felt about me, but then somehow we were making out at the bottom of the stairwell at like 2/3am on new years eve. and it was So Good. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I saw him in the breakfast room this morning. Not quite the goodbye I wanted, but a decent one nevertheless.
Peter came to find me right after midnight on new years eve for a(n awkward) kiss, which i thought was the sweetest thing ever. Esp since he’s ace, and I think was just trying to do the “normal, sweet thing” I loved cuddling with him all afternoon today. It really helped me decompress and get back to a better headspace. Its hard for me not being able to have ‘small talk’ with him though.
I was fangirling a bit over having a real conversation with Gordon (trumpet) and said to malcolm ‘He’s just really good at a thing’ and he said ‘ so are you !!’, which is very sweet. And I suppose that if enough people are telling me that I look good and that I’m a good dancer and they like dancing with me that its probably true.
The way Nate calmed me down after the pasta fiasco really left an impression on me. Especially that he was chill about it all, and how his first response was to “massage” my shoulders. Plus he was really good at it and #Damn. I love that we can hold a conversation and talk about ‘nothing’. plus he’s jewish and gorgeous - those EYES!!- and not too tall. I think he’s like 13 years older than me, which is a lot. just, fuck, i like him!
I flirted with Joe, obviously. Nothing happened at all, but he did kiss me seriously on the cheek before midnight NYE, so whatever that means. He showered me with compliments before I left, and I think he genuinely does like me, just not as madly or passionately as I’d like.
Ben gave me a post-midnight kiss! that was crazy. I’m not suddenly in love with him again which is good. I loved dancing with him. Also loved dancing with Bryan! That was epic.
And then the whole shpiel with Eric will have to wait for a different time. I have no idea whats going on there, but there was a LOT of saucy/sparkly eye contact. and some dances!!

Sommer and I sat down a year ago at Lindy Focus and talked about country two-stepping, the joy she finds in learning as many dances as possible, her experiences as a competitor and social dancer, and how she prefers learning by doing — in both dance and math.We also discussed her love of pop music, what it’s like both dancing and researching with her husband, performing superhuman feats of mathematics on television, and how exactly one can embody Zeno’s Paradox on the dance floor.
