French is the official language of 29 countries. 🇫🇷

Let’s list all the countries where French is an official language. France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada… Uh, I’m out.

Did you know French is the official language of Senegal? And Djibouti?

How about Madagascar and Vanuatu? (Let’s be real, would you even know where to find Vanuatu on a map?)

Not to mention, there are several dependent entities all over the world where locals speak French. For example, French Guiana is in South America but is a department of France with representation in the French government, similar to how Hawaii is a U.S. state. That’s right—the French language has made its way to South America!

help with term paper

hi! 

I am currently trying to write an English linguistics paper and I did a questionnaire for my data but now I am kind of stuck with how to present my data well. Unfortunately, my uni did not provide any resources/ other papers tgat worked with any form of questionnaire. 

If you have written such a paper, would you be willing to let me read it? Since I am studying at a german university, someone from another german uni would probably have similar restrictions and rules (i’m guessing??) but anyone else is welcome too of course, I’m just trying to write a good paper shbshvjdscj

Alternative alla lingua latina tra il XV e il XVI secolo;

Macaronico: nato nell’ambiente universitario padovano, da “gnocco di formaggio”, cibo grossolano che utilizza più elementi. Un linguaggio creato da una sintassi latina con però lessico dialettale: amazat al posto di interficit. Parole in volgare dotate di desinenza latina, come compagnus. Utilizzato per argomenti bassi e triviali. 

Polifilesco:  dalla Guerra d’amore in sogno dell’amatore di Polia, di Francesco Colonna, 1499. Un volgare con un tasso elevato di latinismi.

Mutamenti linguistici del latino volgare

Anafonesi: processo linguistico in cui dalle vocali toniche E, O si ottiene I, U. E’ una chiusura vocalica del passaggio dal latino all’italiano. Graminea > gramegna > gramigna.

Epentesi: sviluppo di una consonante o di una vocale all’interno della parola. Vidua > vedova 

Sincope: caduta di una vocale all’interno di parola. Calidus > caldo.
