Can we get HCs on link with a fiesty but very caring mercenary s/o?
oh fuck I love this
☽ Link might not understand the mercenary lifestyle, but he’s fully supportive and behind them all the way!!
☽ Obviously him and s/o train together; there’s something about practice swordfights and getting all sweaty and breathless that’s way too much fun and pretty sexy
☽ He’s not really used to having someone care about him so much - because of their constant checking on him and making sure everything’s okay, he ends up more in tune with his own emotions and does a better job working through stuff! Even just simple things like drinking water when he has a headache or going to bed earlier if he’s sleepy, s/o is always there to remind him, and he’s learned to be more caring in turn
☽ Fiesty s/o likes to play pranks on him and Link has a tendency to take things very... well, bluntly, so some of the jokes go straight over his head - or, he just catches them outright beforehand, and then has to have the prank or what was going to be the prank explained to him and eventually s/o just gives up
☽ Just as s/o is a good influence on him, Link’s calm demeanor is a good influence on them. He’s their rock - consistent and reliable. He knows exactly how to calm them down or cheer them up after anything bad happening, and usually something as simple as a hug while rubbing their back is all it takes.
old art, still one of my favorite headcanon ideas ive ever had
HEAR ME OUT, LINK SINGING IS SO SWEET BECAUSE
PRE YIGA CLAN: while zeldas out researching, she wakes up one morning to link cooking and singing which is NOT AT ALL WHAT SHE EXPECTS and she makes fun of him for doing both, but she secretly stalks him while hes singing absently and writes about how much she likes his voice in her diary
POST YIGA CLAN: she admits she likes his voice and eagerly asks for lessons. hes confused because this is a total change in attitude but rolls with it. imagine them singing by the fire and zelda singing for him in a slightly breathy mezzo voice, not that good at singing but link thinks its ADORABLE and joins in quietly with harmony in his tenor 2 ish voice. them singing together becomes a huge part of their relationship
LINKS (temporary) DEATH: as links dying in her arms, he sees her crying and his mind is completely clouded but he begins humming for her as he passes out and she cant stop crying, and right before she hands his body over to the sheikah soldiers she whispers that once he comes back she wants to hear him sing again
IN GAME, MY FAVORITE PART: im torn as to whether or not i like link not talking much better or him being selectively mute except when hes around zelda BUT he just doesnt talk too much in game and when finally asked why by someone like, say, kass, he just smiles and says “i’m saving my voice.” as soon as he woke up he didnt know why or how but all he knew was that someone was waiting for him and he was gonna sing for them.
TL;DR zelda is a tsundere who grows to like his singing and hes saving his voice to sing for her when he frees her from ganon
The three main Link that I roleplay on here are Time, Twilight, and Wild. All of these boys are very different and should not be confused for each other. I will also roleplay as Sky however I don’t have as many headcanons for him as the main three.
Time - Link
I simply refer to Time as Link, since he is my original. He is the epitome of the Hero and probably the strongest of all of them both mentally and physically.
He has practiced with a sword since the age of ten and thus has a total of eighteen years of experience. He is steady with a bow and holds an arsenal of tools to solve puzzles. Time is by far the best at problem solving and has the best reaction time. He also has good impulse-control and thinks things through before he leaps.
While he is not afraid of talking he only speaks what he needs to. He is very polite and soft-spoken. He has gained a habit of bowing his head a lot due to doing this around Zelda so much.
Link suffers from anxiety, though it is very minor for him and he can easily work past it. He also has PTSD ranging from nightmares to hallucinations to flashbacks. His case is not quite severe as these are few and far between, but one trigger will affect Link greatly and make him extremely paranoid. Link does not suffer from depression.
Twilight - Brutus
Don’t ask me where the name came from because I have no idea, but I refer to this Link as Brutus.
He has been studying the blade for eleven years and has learned quite a bit from the Hero’s Shade (AU Time), and has added his own flair and finesse in fighting. His aim with a bow is better than his swordsmanship.
Brutus is good at puzzle solving but also gets frustrated and unmotivated easily. He’s impatient and prefers to brute force things if that’s an option. He doesn’t really look before he leaps but he makes up for this with improvisation skills.
Brutus is an extremely open and caring person, not afraid to talk nor speak his mind on a subject. He doesn’t mind coming off as rude. He has very strong opinions and will always make a strong case to defend his point if he believes that it’s what’s right.
This Link suffers from no ailments other than Caring Too Much and Too Much Courage, bordering him on reckless. This has gone down slightly with age but if he was called forth to defend Hyrule again, he would jump into action immediately.
Wild - Wyatt
Wyatt is... a strange case.
He is the least like any other Link due to being so alienated from other generations. He has heard of the tale of the Hero and he has heard of the Golden Goddesses, but nothing more than that. The only thing that Wyatt had to go on was sheer willpower that somewhat converted to courage, but that was it.
Wyatt is most proficient with a sword though his arsenal is much wider than that. While the other Links are good with improvisation, Link is good at experimentation and finding new ways around things. However, this does not really make him much of a problem solver. He jumps into things and hopes it turns out, solving a puzzle in parts rather than as a whole. This has changed with experience and time, so he has become much more patient.
He prefers not to speak at all if he can get away with it. He has come to trust people more with age but during the events of the game, he had no trust in any person he met. Wyatt prefers to sign than talk and his trust is immediately boosted with anyone who also knows how to sign. Wyatt is afraid of saying something to someone that will put them off and believe that his judgement is not the best. While not talkative, Wyatt is very open-minded and accepting as his past has not allowed him to be so.
Wyatt suffers from depression, anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Almost all of this has gone away with age, regaining his memories and finding friends. He’s still sad at times, believing he’s too displaced from time he grew up in, but the friends of his past and Zelda have helped to ease him on this.
Nowadays he is very happy and still loves to just roam Hyrule knowing he has a home to return to.
