actually also I remember reading somewhere that in order for the grey wardens to like maintain their good relationship with dwarves is that once they hear the calling they serve a year in orzammar to help the dwarves fight off the darkspawn and that keeps like the treaties active or whatever and then they go die like "with honor" in the deep roads. Like ok imagine King Alistair giving up his throne to go fight in orzammar for a year before dying nice thanks I DONT NEED THIS

…but actually yes, I just read about that, it’s essentially how the Wardens keep the Right of Conscription w/the dwarven kingdoms and hahaaha aha
