LU Headcanons

[Just a few random general ones that I have and that go with pretty much all my writing. This is part of me writing things based off of what won on that poll I made. More to come later on, probably for other fandoms I listed as well.]

Sky is actually pretty good at playing quite a few instruments. Besides the Goddess Harp, he’s decent at the violin and piano. Technically the only time he’s seen a piano was in Legend’s house, but he picked it up pretty fast and now enjoys playing when there is one to play.

Twilight and Sky both put out heat like a furnace, so they are the most likely to be cuddled up to at night when it’s cold. Time also puts out heat, but nothing compared to Sky and Twi. Malon is definitely how Twilight inherited the trait.

No idea if I’ve written this in something before, but Wind tends to starfish when he sleeps, but that’s dependent on where exactly he’s sleeping. During his quest, since he was on a boat most of the time,  he has probably gotten used to sleeping in a small space completely flat on his back with his arms at his side and potentially also tied down so he won’t fall out of the boat. But on dry and stable land? Starfish every single time. Just ask Aryll what it was like sleeping with a brother who keeps smacking her while asleep. They have definitely had midnight shoving matches that have led to Wind staying dead asleep on the floor.

Four is prone to headaches, maybe not necessarily because of the portals or the Colors, but just because of how he functions. Self projecting a bit, but his headaches can range from “I just need food/water/quiet for a while and I’ll be fine” to “If I move from this spot, either I will be in pain or whoever moved me is about to get punched in the face”. He’s gotten pretty good at guessing what works and what doesn’t, but it’s always been a guessing game and he’s still guessing what causes the annoying headaches.

Wars is decent at making food, but not excellent like Wild is. He had to manage with what was available to him during the War, so he got good at improvising with what he had. It may not taste good, but there are calories and it’s food in a sense, so it counts in his book.

Random Hyrule headcanon that spawned out of nowhere:

So like everyone in Hyrules era live in caves right(if I'm not mistaking this) so they'd probably have some vision problems. Especially if they were born in these caves right.

So I think I'd would be cool if Hyrule had some sort of vision impairment(more specifically a lazy eye) from practically living in the dark for a good part of his life and suddenly having to use his eyes more(lol) during his adventure and with the chain.

With Tears of the Kingdom coming out soon, I may as well talk about how I see Wild as a character/how I write him. To be fair, Wild isn’t my favorite character so he isn’t quite as developed in my mind as other characters. Regardless, enjoy some headcanons as I wrestle with other writing.

-He likes to explore and experiment with new things. When he figured out about shield surfing, he tried to find the perfect places to do it and has many scars from the amount of times his shields broke while he tumbled down the sides of mountains. He has zero regrets.

-As for experimenting, he likes to throw a bunch of different ingredients into his cooking to see what happens. Early on in his quest, he made a lot of dubious dishes but learned from the failures and now is pretty good as a cook. He also experiments with elixirs to varying degrees of success. He wants to make the perfect elixir one day that’ll do everything at once. He has yet to succeed.

-He gets distracted pretty easily while on the road and not just because there’s a lot to do and see in his era. He definitely has ADHD, but he can focus when it matters or if he gets interested/invested enough. Cooking is one thing where he can focus a lot on it.

-He can be rather reckless when it comes to fighting. He has a lot of scars from getting knocked around by Moblins and Bokoblins. A few scars from various Lizalfos encounters too. He also likes to observe monsters and how they interact with each other. He has a journal that acts as both a cookbook/recipe book and a little personal compendium for observing the monsters he encounters. Wild will add a lot more to it on the LU journey, especially with all the new monsters.

-Wild may be a gremlin, but he isn’t unclean or anything. He kind of has to value being clean since he handles the food most of the time. Yes, he had to learn this himself early on, and no, it wasn’t pleasant for him. He washes himself at least once a day, but his haircare drives Warriors and Legend insane. He only really brushes it after he washes his hair which is not very often. One of these days Wars is going to make him take care of his hair.

Let's talk about Shadow in LU cuz I love the little gremlin.

Depending on the fic/AU, I give Shadow different traits and abilities. Lucky Number 13 is one where I give Shadow all his normal abilities pretty much, with the addition that light doesn't outright harm him anymore.

I'm now realizing that I don't have a lot of stories with Shadow in them posted, so let's just move on to other fun Shadow things.

He's a huge prankster and uses his Shadow manipulation abilities to fuck with the other Links. Four gets blamed most of the time, but other times the Links just blame whoever is closest to them. This can devolve into fights which Shadow finds absolutely hilarious.

Shadow runs cold most of the time, so he can and will leech body heat from whoever he's cuddling. Four is his usual victim, but when he's more comfortable around the others, he goes to Twilight or Sky.

Shadow doesn't have the same love of forging that Four does, but he can forge and isn't too bad at it. The first time he successfully made a small knife, the Colors and Grandpa Smith celebrated the achievement, even if Shadow still thought it was unnecessary, considering he thought the knife sucked.

What if because of their close contact with fairies or fae creatures, Time, Four, and Hyrule all have like weird food or tastes that they enjoy.

Hyrule liking sugar water is one that I've seen quite a bit, but what about Four eating berries that the Minish normally feast on that are not typically eaten by Hylians. And maybe Time is just a bit more of a fairy boy in that he eats things that are perhaps normally dangerous for Hylians to eat.

Maybe they all like things a bit sweeter on occasion. I just think that this should be explored more and could be super interesting.

The Great Traveler Fairy - Hyrule

I forget when this was originally brought up or talked about, but I think it was on LU Main Discord Server a few years ago. So the general idea is that Hyrule is part fairy, which is why he can learn so many spells and has as much magic ability as he does. Then the idea for him being able to become a Great Fairy, but not one who is stationary at a Fairy Fountain. So from these ideas, I’m adding my own ideas, though I seriously don’t remember who came up with the idea first. Under a read more cuz I rambled

So, I’m thinking this could take place either during Hyrule’s second adventure or after it, or even potentially post-LU. In an earlier post I made about the Great Fairies, I said that Ganon’s power and influence ravaged the land, making it hard for fairies to get the power they need to survive. Fairies still exist, but Great Fairies pretty much died out because of Ganon. How Hyrule fits into this is because of his innate magic and fae heritage, he can communicate with the fairies and gain their respect. 

He becomes considered a Great Fairy and then he learns more. He can use and replenish the magic from the land, which helps to get rid of the remnants of Ganon’s influence. He can then bestow gifts, like how other Great Fairies do. His gifts aren’t quite the same though. He can’t give magic abilities like the fairies in Ocarina of Time, nor can he upgrade items or armor like in Breath of the Wild or other games I forget. His gifts are more passive. 

He’s the Great Traveler Fairy, and earning a gift from him means that you will have a safe journey to where you need to go. You will have all of the necessary supplies to make the trek and won’t run out. Any danger you come across will pass you by and leave you unharmed and you will never lose sight of your path. The way that you earn his gift means that you have to see him while you’re traveling. Be kind to him and share what you have, show that you mean no harm. If he judges you to be as you say you are, then you will have earned his gift, and he will leave with a small ‘thank you’. 

That’s all my thoughts about this, cuz I can’t think of anything else at the moment. It’s a fun idea, and feel free to use it in your own stuff. I’d love to see it ^u^
