He’s hit her…again. And she’s taken it…again. Like the first time, and every time after that, Abigail’s taken the hits, hid them with make-up, and told herself that it wasn’t his fault. That, in fact, it was her fault — she’s told herself that she’d done something to make his temper flare up, that she deserved to be hit. Which is undoubtedly not true, but Tyler hasn’t let her believe anything different, and now the notion is instilled. 

So she follows her little routine, finding a quiet spot to cry by herself…until Imogen finds her. “Immy! Uh — what are you doing here?” 

‘She can’t see it, Abigail, she can’t tell what’s happened.’ is repeated like a mantra inside the blonde’s head, to calm her own fear of anything being discovered about her state.
