Why Not Friends

Summary:

Jaskier had made Geralt relent on many things already: stopping more often in inns than was necessary, letting the human accompany on some hunts, or the chamomile oil were some examples. His very presence on the Path, with Geralt, was probably the main one.

Perhaps all of those previous indulgences meant Jaskier had gotten used to get his way, at the end, and that he probably thought it would be the same for this, too.

After all, even Geralt wasn’t quite certain why it felt so important to maintain that wall between them. Not if he didn’t think too long about it, that is.

Can also be read as a standalone, since we’re in Geralt’s head for this fic and he remains unaware of how many people are direct witnesses of the way he and Yennefer celebrated their alive-ness together at the end of the djinn episode

Summary: Bards are womanizers, this is a truth continentally acknowledged. Ever since his years at Oxenfurt, the dormitories were filled with daydreams and fantasies about the fairer sex and their attributes and the countless future successes of his comrades at unraveling them.

Everyone whispered and moaned and sighed about gentle maids swooning thanks to a couple of lute strings plucked or sweet words sung, about soft skin and passionate embraces.

And Jaskier… couldn’t figure out what all the fuss was about.

Other info/rambling: This is the second fic in an overall Geraskier series. Reading the first fic is not necessary to understand this one.

The working title of this fic was ‘Character study of Netflix Jaskier the charmer yet he doesn’t know how to flirt (I mean necks like sexy gooses, even Geralt was like WTF dude you’re supposed to be the bard) and is annoyed by the most gorgeous sorceress of the Continent’. That’s my take on that x)

So, this ‘tell but don’t show’ about Jaskier’s famous womanizing and charming skills became a big question mark in my head and I decided to answer it seriously (because there’s another, simpler answer that Jaskier is simply the comic-relief whose flirting skills are so bad they’re absurd and it’s no deeper than that).

The Cage - chp 1/3

I've posted a new fic, this time in The Witcher (TV) fandom. The link to AO3 is here.

It's the first installment of a series that’ll be mainly G*eraskier. However, the romance for the latter is non-existent in this fic (as Jaskier will be at most 12 when it ends), as are the interactions. There’s no Geralt in this fic at all. This fic focuses mainly on the Mother & Son relation and how I imagine Jaskier’s childhood could have been (with a bit of context at the beginning because I always write too much context). All of this to say that it can totally be read as a stand-alone, if romance or the ship aren’t your jam :)

Please heed the tags and the warnings before starting to read! (In this chapter there's mention of Underage, Discussion of Abortion and no lost love between Jaskier's parents, amongst all)
