If you're watching the original Star Trek from the 1960s for the first time, please don't start with "The Cage." There's a reason why that pilot didn't get the series made. It's an interesting artifact, but it is not representative of Star Trek. If nothing else, it literally doesn't have any characters in common, except for Spock (whose depiction/portrayal was far from nailed down at that point).

Start with "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (the Kirk pilot) or "The Man Trap" (the first episode aired) or even "The Corbomite Maneuver" (the first non-pilot episode produced). Hell, start with basically any of the episodes (there's very little continuity between them). Just don't start with "The Cage." It is not the first episode of Star Trek.
