Fae Jaskier getting caught and Geralt only finding him when the boy is all cut up and trapped in a cage with a broken wing
i took it somewhere else but...
Geralt is too curious for his own good, or at least that’s what Mommy says. He knows she must know best but he can’t help it! The world is so wide and colorful and their home is already familiar and he wants to know more!
That’s why he likes to explore the forest. There are so many animals and flowers and trees and he can spend hours looking for berries and it’s so nice. Geralt really really likes being outside.
Sometimes he brings Mommy flowers and she always makes them into pretty crowns and lets Geralt wear them.
He’s looking for flowers again when he hears someone calling for help. Immediately, Geralt perks up and listens. He always helps hurt birds and squirrels but this sounds like a person!
The moment he figures out the direction, Geralt sets off, little legs pounding as fast as possible. If someone calls for help he has to answer.
It takes him a while to find the source, but when he does, he pauses. There, in a metal trap that looks very scary is a boy like him. He has brown hair and very blue, scared eyes and brown wings, beating weakly in the trap. Geralt swallows and walks closer.
“Hello,” he says timidly, flinching when the boy’s eyes snap to him. He looks scared and his mouth is open so Geralt can see sharp teeth but he isn’t afraid. He helped wounded animals before, helping a boy can’t be that different. “Don’t be scared! I wanna help.”
The boy stares some more before his wings stop moving. “You won’t hurt...?”
“No!” Geralt hastily promises. “It looks like it hurts. I wanna help.”
The boy nods so Geralt slowly inches towards the trap and lays a small hand on the boy’s arm.
“I’m Geralt,” he introduces himself. “And you?”
“Jaskier,” comes the quiet response. Geralt smiles.
“I’ll help,” he promises again and takes a look at the trap.
It’s not heavy and Geralt saw some before, for animals. They look scary and do a lot of hurt but are easy to tear down. Geralt sends the boy a small smile and tugs at one part, letting everything fall to the ground. Jaskier flinches and draws his wings close, before crying out.
“You’re hurt!” Geralt notices, hands going to Jaskier. The boy flinches away so Geralt stays in place. “Let me help, please. My Mommy is the best at healing, she will make it go away, I promise. She’s the best!”
Jaskier looks at him, still scared but his wings are bleeding a lot and Geralt is a bit scared for him too. Finally, his hand grabs Geralt’s and he carefully pulls Jaskier to his feet. He smiles.
“You’re my friend now,” he says to the other boy. “So I’ll help you.”
The other boy’s eyes are very blue and when he smiles, Geralt gasps. It’s the prettiest smile he has ever seen. He wants to see more of it.
“Thank you, Geralt,” Jaskier says quietly. “You’re a good friend.”
Slowly, they walk to Geralt’s Mommy.
