Here’s a neat new SU OC I whipped up a few days ago, I meant to post it earlier but things kinda’ got out of hand irl so it had to wait >.<” Anyways, this is Liquid Crystal, they’re not technically a “real gem” because they’re based on the thermochromic faux gemstones used in mood rings

Liquid Crystals (a.k.a "Mood Stones") are gem-powered artificial constructs that were created in an attempt to find a potential solution to Homeworld's resource crisis. They are programmed to perform a variety of tasks so that they can be easily utilized as substitutes for any given gem type should Homeworld no longer be able to produce suitable gems through natural means. Because of this, Liquid Crystals can be assigned to a number of different roles in Homeworld's caste system - some are servants, some are technicians, some are guards, and so on. Despite being artificially made, they possess their own unique abilities just like naturally formed gems, this skillset includes levitation, photokinesis, psychokinesis, and holographic projection. Due to their experimental status, all Liquid Crystals currently belong to White Diamond's court, but are made to serve the Diamond Authority as a whole.

Liquid Crystals cannot speak and primarily communicate through their color changing ability. However, they are capable of writing/typing and can even use Morse code in the form of flashing lights. It is unclear whether they're technically "gems" or "robots", as they function in a manner more reminiscent to Homeworld's technology than its inhabitants, but they do occasionally show some degree of sentience beyond their automated A.I.

In addition, because they are artificially manufactured, Liquid Crystals tend to lack variation in gem placement - their gems are almost always located where their faces would be (though it's worth noting that even those with different gem locations still appear faceless).

Anyways, that’s the bio I got for now, I would go into explaining what influenced this design but that would be way too much to type out and this post is long enough lol Hope you enjoy and look forward to future revisions

I’ll see about whipping up a possible color set for this dude once I settle on which colors represent what emotion XD
