Boom
Besides the piece titled "The Tears Heal" where Rapunzel has a blonde pixie cut, and the Rapunzel Unbraided concept art of Claire pre-transformation into Rapunzel - is there any more short hair concept art? Do you think her overall haircut was directly inspired by Mandy as well (we're talking her in "How To Deal") ?
No, her hair was always going to be cut because that's the way the fairytale goes. And post-Rapunzel Unbraided, once they decided on the healing factor, it was always tied to her hair.
There isn't much concept art out there of her post-haircut, unless it's from after they decided her hair was brown. David Gilson has some post-haircut concept art, but again, the decision had already been made by the time those were drawn. (Even though her outfit hadn't been nailed down yet.)
There is this one, though, by Lissa Treiman. It seems more light brown than blonde, to me (especially when compared to her concept art of long-haired Rapunzel), but it's definitely not dark.
(Also, it's one of my favorite concept arts.)
But I genuinely don't think it's supposed to be blonde, because Lissa was a board artist, and she also boarded the scene where Rapunzel shows off her lock of brown hair.

The Great British Bump Off: Kill or be Quilt #1 by John Allison, Max Sarin and Sammy Borras. Cover by Sarin. Variant cover by Lissa Treiman. Out in April.
"A new cozy mystery from Giant Days' John Allison and Max Sarin following up to their hit baking murder mystery The Great British Bump-Off. Surely there is no vacation more drama-free than a boating holiday along the sleepy canals of Yorkshire? Oh, you'd think so. Sadly, for Shauna Wickle, it's tough to escape poisonous small-town rivalries (and sultry romantic entanglements) when travelling at a steady two to three miles per hour. And to make things worse, she's about to find out how ruinously expensive a hastily-tied knot can be…"
