oh no...what’s the straight person hot take?
It’s “the scene where Klaus says ‘HIS name was Dave’ was cheesy and bad because it was already so obvious that Klaus was gay (or at least not straight) from the beginning.”
Only they won’t say the name Dave or the word gay they’ll just talk around it like “it was so obvious” without saying what was obvious. They talk around it.
I’ve had multiple straight people repeat this complaint to me almost verbatim, completely unprompted. It’s the only thing they’ll say about Klaus at all but it’s apparently so important for them to say that they have to go out of their way to bring it up.
Admittedly, it was some awkward dialogue but the obvious subtext from the straight people who have brought it up to me was “He was obviously gnc, so I already knew he wasn’t straight, so how come they needed to actually talk about it or acknowledge it at all?” And that’s the only part of Klaus’s story they paid attention to at all, like they reduce his whole character to “well, duh he was gay I stop talking about it.”
