Oh man, I am not that knowledgeable with Halo so this will probably be inaccurate in more ways than one but
She’s definitely a human, but she’s not of Earth. She’s from a colony planet, probably one the ones located on the far edges of humanity’s reach. Born there, did not volunteer to go there.
Worked in the trade business, naturally. Her home planet was rich in craft metals so she had no trouble selling the goods and buying the things that were scarce.
When rumors of other outer worlds getting attacked by aliens started spreading, she didn’t play the waiting game or dismiss the stories. She got on the first ship she could to the inner worlds and resettled there, thinking she’d be safe.
She wasn’t safe there either though. When the Covenant attacked, she ended up getting roped into combat with a hastily made band of “minutemen” to fight off the Covenant until the real military could arrive and handle things.
After surviving that attack, she fled to Earth, thinking she’d be safe there. (And we all know how well that works out...)
