Trees at Makino Memorial Garden & Museum. If you are in the neighborhood or live in the Nerima ward, you should drop by the garden (its free of charge!) where Dr. Tomitaro Makino's residence was located. Makino is the considered the “father of plant taxonomy” in Japan and contributed to the development of Japanese botany. I read somewhere that he named over 1,500 plants. This garden and museum is a not a large place however holds Makino’s residence and more than 300 kinds of plants. In addition to exhibiting items related to Makino at the memorial hall, special exhibitions such as plant paintings related to him and related events are also held. In Kochi prefecture (Makino’s birthplace) you will find the Makino Botanical Garden which spread over 6 hectares of more than 3,000 species of plants. #trees #lookuptotheskies #Japanbotany #tomitaromakino #littleescapes https://www.instagram.com/p/CW_4iw1h0lW/?utm_medium=tumblr
