its kinda sad that late night isnt a super popular live comedy genre anymore (good video about that) because josh johnson's standup would make for FANTASTIC late night monologues. like he could totally change the standard late night format if it was viable but it just ISNT ANYMORE!
a huge part of his appeal is his comedic perspective on current events, definitely the reason as to why a vast majority of people tune in. one of my biggest gripes is that *some* of his bits tend to drag on juuuust a bit too long (ex. reading in class joke in his set about tarrifs, i found myself OUT LOUD saying "this bit is so long its not even funny anymore".) do i think he needs to completely abandon 45min-1hr long sets? god no! but i do really think his roster would benefit from some tighter bits. and maybe some interviews and games and a live band and a charismatic announcer and etc. also i think it'd be pretty funny to have him wear his typical sweatshirt + jeans getup with a tie
