Animistic Beliefs testing out some of the new @endorphin.es modules 😈 The new Running Order module is really useful for creating patterns. In this patch they’re using it for the didgeridoo sound and the 808ish snares.
Land Of Light ‘Rehearsal Bootleg / Live Jam’ (2013)
Live jam up on our YouTube Channel!
OK, another coldplay concert that I missed one year ago, the Global Citizen India version of AFHOD tour
I tweaked the audio a bit after I ripped it, I think I have the compressor set a bit too high on my recording software. When the compression is too high, it makes for less contrast between the high and low volume sections. It did help smooth out the doubled bassline and keep it from overpowering things, but that’s something I should do by hand while I’m playing, honestly. I’ve got two hands, I can turn two volume knobs at the same time.
Then again, the reason I named this jam session ‘This is Harder than it Looks’ is because one of my cats was on my lap, craving my attention. So I DIDN’T have two free hands right then, I had one hand petting the cat to fulfill her craving for pets, and the other one on the volume knob of the Behringer Crave.
We signed up for a skillshare subscription back when the pandemic first started, maybe I should actually use it and see if there are classes on mixing that could help me with this sort of thing...
... anyway. As usual, since I had that little extra bit of limitation, I found myself doing things I wouldn’t have done in another jam. Since I couldn’t use both hands to do full chords, I found myself doing half-step chromatic slides from note to note, or taking a moment to create a quick set of chords on the Circuit that I could then jam out to with my free hand on one of the other synths. It’s amazing how much a small limitation can end up spurring creativity.
