Some highlights from the live version of Romeo and Juliet I saw yesterday bc y'all need to know about this
Ok so, first off, a lot of the actors for the theater were girls and that made the whole thing and the characters played by them 10× better
Most notably Mercutio, Tybalt, and Paris
All of everyone's outfits, they were all so amAZING OH GOSH I LOVED THEM
Half the girls in the theater swooning over Romeo when he entered for the first time (and for good reason)
She was so extravagant and over the top and she played the nurse so well
There was the one part where shes all tired and shit and the nurse is just like "this brat thinks I'm old" and drags her response out and makes Juliet give her this very reluctant and aggravated massage, all while staying p much true to the original play script-wise
Every remotely gay girl swooning over Mercutio when the actress entered for the first time (and fOR GOOD REASON)
SHE WORE THIS REALLY PRETRY SHOULDER CAPE IT WAS GOLDEN AND FLOWY AND I LOVED IT
Literally every Mercutio & Benvolio scene, but I think that goes for every live version of the play
"Kiki, doth thou love me?"
This one part where Mercutio just fucking. Puts his head on Benvolio's lap. And then does this,, elaborate roll to get up
Which involved getting his head very close to Ben's crotch for half a second
Benvolio fucking screeched
Some guy in front of me: "that was gay" Me, under my breath: "yeah no shit, dude"
Friar Lawrence was honestly the best fucking friar
"HOLY SHHHH- SAIT FRANCIS!"
Romeo almost climbing these two pillars on the balcony for the balcony scene, the girls in the audience almost swooning, him finally actually climbing the pillar, the girls in front of me SCREETCHED
They used fake blood (of course) and the initial fucking *chaos* (while momentary) when Mercutio pulled their hand away after being stabbed and it was red
THE PART WHEN TYBALT DIED LOOKED TOO REAL TBH ROMEOS SWORD WENT TOWARDS TYBALT'S NECK AND BECAME RED WHILE GOING THROUGH THE PART WHERE IT WOULD HAVE HIT THE ACTRESS AND ROMEO'S SWORD WAS COVERED IN FAKE BLOOD FOR A WHILE
OH DID I MENTION THEY USED REAL SWORDS
BC OF COURSE THEY DID IT WAS SO COOL
Paris's fucking outfit, I need it for my life
This one scene where Paris' actress's braid fell out of her hat and I never felt gayer
They did it all so well, and they did the change in mood just so well it was very tense and beautiful *chefs kiss*
The scene when Paris and Juliet meet for the first time in Friar Lawerence's cell radiated a Big Lesbian Energy TM
WHEN THE GAY GIRLS CHECKED THE HANDOUT AND REALIZED THAT THE ACTRESS FOR MERCUTIO WAS COMING BACK FOR THE OTHER FRIAR
WE WERE FUCKING SHAKING WITH EXCITEMENT
Romeo's outfit for the last scene was,,,, dare I say better than Paris's
THE WHOLE THING WAS SO GOOD I LOVED IT IT WAS AMAZING
