Words.
Its been a crazy summer. And yes, I know summer ended about a month ago (in Canadian terms) but its taken a month to get around to wanting to write. As a musician, writing should seem like second nature, but writing lyrics vs. everything else is more difficult in a lot of ways.
Blogs to me are odious. I find it hard to truly emulate in sentence structures and correct grammar the impact of a trip, or reflect on the highlights and lowlights of a recent experience. Even spell check throws me off from wanting to portray my next thought.
However, I must say the direction of online social media trends regarding emoji’s and popularity of abbreviations (even though I find myself struggling to know the meaning), has lightened a new wave of communications that I can connect with. Especially everyday conversations that Jared and I have via text (on the rare occasion that we aren’t in the same room together). Now, add the new update on apple phones that allow you to add all sorts of punctuations to text and whatnot, has brought a new level of sarcasm to our lives, thanks ©Apple!
I digress. I am of the personality to jump on a new hobby with furious focus, applying every asset of my talent to be as good as I can be, only to dry up so quickly once I get to the 4-6 week mark of settling with whatever I have tried to accomplish/master. Obviously, some things have stuck, but in a way its freeing being able to be a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none.
Again, I digress. I wanted to actually talk about our busy summer, obviously i wanted to get something off my chest. Which, when you think about it, is the whole reason to blog in the first place.
We (TRF) went places this summer. Lots of places. And saw a lot of things. Many things. In conclusion, went we places and saw things.
What more can I say really? I guess, we did do some pretty cool things too. Apart from playing shows in some of the coolest venues ever, and being a part of some of the funnest festivals and conferences. From rooftops overlooking downtown Nashville, to stages shared with celebrities (such as Jimmy Fallon) in NYC, to playing in front of thousands during our summer festivals, its been pretty crazy. We have been so fortunate to spread our music overseas and within our hometown. Playing in front of the most interesting, unique, loving hearts we’ve come to meet through all this. Its been amazing doing this with such an amazing team, and of course with your best friend/husband/instagram picture taker/model. And we aren’t finished yet. So....I can’t reveal too much..
