He killed his last victim in 1975
In 1976 he had been at BSHCI for a year
The Silence of the Lambs is set in 1983
He tells clarice he's been in his cell for 8 years
His last victim has been dead for 8 years
Questions:
When is Red Dragon set?
In Red Dragon there are several references to Will having caught Hannibal "three years ago" (set in 1978)
But it also states that Dolarhyde was born in 1938 and is 42 years old in the events of the book (set in 1980)
There are references to Red Dragon in The Silence of The Lambs, but none (so far) in terms of time.
