Snow gave a half laugh as she stepped closer to Regina. “Of course you haven’t, Regina. You’re the one who was hurt. Are you okay?” She looked the other woman up and down. Regina was dressed strangely, a bit like Snow used to in her bandit days in fact, but other than that she looked okay.

Her skin was cold as ice as Robin leaned down to press his lips to her forehead, his quivering voice trying to reassure her everything was going to be alright; help was on the way, she only had to remain strong and hold on for a few more minutes. Regina was already slipping away though, he could feel it, saw it in her beautiful dark eyes as life was slowly taken away from them, leaving behind an empty soulless gaze and there was absolutely nothing he could have done to prevent the outcomes of this dreadful incident. That was the day Robin had made a vow to do the one thing he could still do — he’d sworn to find the person who took the love of his life and make him pay; even if it was the last thing he’d ever do.

Ruby paused in lacing Regina’s corset at the question. The handmaiden had shared a look or two with the queen, but had never thought something would come from it. Queens didn’t have mistresses, but Regina had never really seemed like an average queen. She blushed and resumed tightening her laces. “What about the king, your majesty?” The king had no mistress of his own and as far as Ruby knew he called upon Regina most nights.

The knock at her door at 8:30 in the evening isn’t something that’s normal. Surely it wouldn’t be Jarvis, he would have rang her first. Howard would have just walked right in without bothering to knock. Setting her tea cup down on the table, she walks to answer it. Pulling it open, she gasps. There, right in front of her, is a man who died years ago, a man who she’s thought about nearly every single day. A man whose picture she still keeps on her desk because, how could she ever forget him? But, he’s dead. He’s gone. Howard searched for him for months, exhausted every resource, every option, until they’d given up hope. Immediately, her gun is drawn, pointing at him right between the eyes, a stoic look on her face as she takes a step back. “Who are you?” She spits out. “I’m only going to ask you once.” Though her voice is steady, she’s feeling anything but, a slight tremor in her hands.

She paced back and forth in Maleficent’s living room. “So the fact that I just had to spend all night flirting with and making nice with a colleague of yours that you told my mother that you thought he and I would make a good match is not your fault?” They had run into each other once again at a function her mother was throwing. She knew the recommendation had been a way to keep her mother off her trail, but then Maleficent had taken it too far and insisted on setting them up. The whole thing ended with her and this man going out to dinner with her mother and Maleficent. She had had to pretend to be interested in this guy while sitting across from her mother and girlfriend, all the while pretending she wasn’t completely and totally in love with Maleficent.

It was the day after Christmas and it was the first time Regina had seen her girlfriend in a week, but at this moment she couldn’t bring herself to care. She was with her love and they were cuddling, presents already exchanged and now just enjoying each other. She wrapped the blanket tighter around her and Maleficent, grateful they had sprung for a room with a fireplace this time as the snow continued to fall outside. “This night right here with you, this is the best Christmas gift I could have ever gotten.” She smiled as she rested her head on her girlfriend’s shoulder.
