I'm looking RIGHT AT my Ragnarok Loki in my case and still my brain says "you know you need that one they just released, right?" "no, no I don't"

I think. I think my main emotion about this is that I’m actively angry about it for reasons that only barely make sense

because like...I already have TDW Loki and I love him very very much. I am honestly fine with only having one Hot Toys Loki, despite my attitude otherwise (with cheaper collectibles) being “no I must have ALL OF THEM of EVERY POSSIBLE VARIATION THAT EXISTS”. if I had a second Hot Toys Loki I would have to make actual decisions about which one to use in photos, and no matter what I did I’m pretty sure I would feel weird and vaguely disloyal about it. if I’d gotten in on the ground floor and snagged Avengers Loki when he wasn’t obscenely expensive and then continued collecting each Hot Toys Loki as they came out, that would be one thing, but I didn’t, so I would also feel weird in both a vaguely disloyal and mildly obsessive way if I picked up a second Hot Toys Loki but not all of them (or, just as likely, I would then obsess over finding Ragnarok Loki for a semi-reasonable price, which I’m pretty sure is not possible at this point but it’s totally possible I would find my way to justifying it because, well, $340ish is at least less than what original Avengers Loki is selling for!! and I should really, really not do that). in fact I actively decided not to buy Hot Toys Ragnarok Loki for these exact reasons, and I need Endgame Loki even less because his outfit is virtually identical to the TDW one I have except I don’t actually care for the bulky shoulders that go with the cape.

I do not, in any conceivable way, need another Hot Toys Loki.

BUT GODDAMMIT HE’S

BEAUTIFUL!!

I MEAN FUCK!!!

(also accessories are fun, so I wouldn’t at all mind having the helmet, scepter, muzzle, and Tesseract. but that’s really no excuse given that I could probably buy those specific things--or at least the scepter and Tesseract, the others might not fit mine--individually on eBay later for much less.)

I could honestly get behind either option. Of course Frigga would be there trying to keep him safe, would Hela see her as a threat? Trying to manipulate Loki into believing that newfound big sister only wants to get to know him and totally has his best interests at heart might be the best (worst) route to go. Or he might just flee to Midgard to the safety of the bro who’s suddenly not looking so bad in comparison. So many delicious possibilities!

AU meme: Loki is the one exiled to Midgard as the ultimate cause of the trip to Jotunheim, Thor stays on Asgard.

So I’ve been sitting on this one for a while because it just. Changes. EVERYTHING.

Like, I’m of two minds about what Loki would do if he was surreptitiously dropped in New Mexico without his powers. On the one hand, I definitely think he would avoid striding forward and getting his ass tased by an intern. On the other hand, this is a person who’s much more accustomed to hanging back and watching and listening before he makes his ultimate move, so it’s also possible that he’d just book it away from Jane & Co.

My best bet, based on Loki’s snazzy Midgardian duds in the movie when he went to visit his brother, is that Loki is a nerd who’s far more aware of Earth conventions and customs than Thor is, so when he gets dumped in the desert, he’s able to first evaluate the humans he comes across and make something up on the spot to explain his appearance.

However, given that he’s faced with a couple of astrophysicists (and a woman with a taser) who just saw him fall from the friggin’ sky (and then slammed into him with their car), I think he probably just tells them the obvious: that he’s an alien. Can he have a lift, please?

Jane’s ex-boyfriend’s clothes do not quite fit him. He does not like coffee or Pop-Tarts, but the pancakes at the diner are decent. There’s no giant immovable hammer stuck in the middle of the New Mexico desert for SHIELD to fixate on, so it takes Coulson a lot longer to realize that someONE fell down at that weird charred mark. Possibly SHIELD never quite realizes it and just treats it as a new variation on a crop circle.

Meanwhile, back on Asgard, Thor is incensed at the injustice done to his younger brother and tries to convince Sif and the Warriors Three to go with him to Earth to retrieve Loki. There are no takers.

Loki’s bored as hell on Earth and still entirely unsure of what he’s supposed to learn from this lesson, since he still doesn’t think he did anything wrong, and also what the hell happened to him on Jotunheim? He spends a lot of time doing card tricks and bitchily correcting the doctors’ research notes. He and Darcy talk politics over dinner sometimes. His nightmares are getting worse.

Finally Frigga takes matters into her own hands. She and Thor go down to Earth without Odin’s permission. She takes Loki out into the desert, where he can’t damage anything, to tell him the truth about his parentage. He’s angry and horrified and betrayed, and he rages at her and Odin, but she’s made of sterner stuff than the Allfather and just lets him vent until he breaks down in tears and she can gather him to her like a little boy and reassure him that he is loved by his family. She also says, for Heimdall’s ears as well as for Loki’s, that until Odin allows him to come home, she’s not going back to Asgard either.

The three of them end up staying with Jane for a few days until Odin comes to his damned senses. Everyone’s rather overwhelmed by Frigga, who is grace personified and helps do the dishes. Thor and Jane are as adorkable as ever.

Finally Odin relents and calls them all home. Loki stays a few extra hours to proofread Jane’s next scientific paper.
