One hundred and fucking 17 now. We’re really aiming to try and hit 120 it seems.

Thinking back, I think the scene in the House of Night series when Zoey found out her mother had suddenly died was what put the final nail in the coffin of me finishing the series. Having lost my own mother, gone through that grief and that difficulty, it felt like the Cast ladies were just using it as an excuse to remove Linda Heffer as a minor antagonist to Zoey, as she had been, and remove Zoey's link to John Heffer as another antagonist. I'd accuse them of fridging Linda to give Zoey Moar Pain, but I don't even remember getting the impression that it impacted Zoey on any major level. It was just a lazy way to tie up a side plot.

It was cheap. Ridiculously so. And clearly not written by anyone even pretending to have lost a parent far too soon. Come the fuck on, Cast ladies. Why even have that as a plot twist if you aren't going to put the work into doing it properly?
