Liz Ortecho Week 2023 Day 4: Risks
This Dream in My Soul (a Liz Ortecho Playlist)
I met a girl. And it turns out we went to high school together.
I am woman
Team science has it all - an alien engineer who is smarter than most humans, a human who happens to be the best alien surgeon on Earth, and a human biomedical researcher with big ideas who is determined to lead them into the future.
Post-canon, they form a formal and very secretive research cohort, and then tackle intergalactic travel.
For @elizabethortechoweek day two: Research.
There’s a soft click as the last pin slides into place accompanied by a cool rush of adrenaline straight to Liz’s veins. Something she still wasn’t quite used to, but had found herself becoming drawn to over the last few years. Enjoying the flip in her stomach as she looks over her shoulder. The hall was still clear.
Liz tries the knob, a smile breaking across her face as it twists easily, granting her access to the office beyond. She slips through the crack in the door, closing it with a click. Doing her best to be quiet.
Her nervous system was alight, body starting to buzz from adrenaline and fear mixing in her chest. She had to be quick, not be seen. The last thing she needed was to have some sort of record two semesters into a new school.
The Dean’s desk was chaos, folders and envelopes strewn across the surface with seemingly no rhyme or reason. Liz doubted the filing cabinets and drawers were much neater, if at all.
“Of course estaré aquí toda la noche,” Liz grumbles as she makes her way behind the desk. She places the makeshift hook and lever she had made out of hairpins onto the desk. This excursion was a little more spur of the moment than she’d like to admit.
