Life Series Mumbo and his position in the Mounders vs the Southlanders is rotating in my brain
He doesn't know how much trust is safe to give, so He doesn't trust the Mounders.
All he knows is what was modelled to him in Last Life by the Southlanders (especially Grian), and that was if someone has any ability to hurt you they will, and they are a threat (the Boogeyman curse means that any one of his friends could kill him at any moment), If you are in anyway a threat to someone else, you will be abandoned by them (he saw Grian kicked from he team the moment he turned red, then it happened to him soon after), if there is an opportunity to get something that will keep you alive just a little bit longer, it is more important than even your alliances (Grian negotiated with Scar for him and Mumbo to break their loyalty to the Southlands in exchange for a chance at him giving them each a single life)
Mumbo is still playing by the same rules, that you don't trust people who could hurt you (Joel turned yellow, why do they trust him not to guess their tasks??), and that you do what you need to keep yourself alive no matter what (he turns on the Mounders when goes red because he needs to do his tasks), that once you are a threat to them they will cast you aside immediately (and he doesn't understand why the Mounders are telling him to stay)
The parallels live in my brain forever and augh, the way the Mounders try to change his mind, because they all went through this too, but they kind of know what's up, but they don't really catch on until it's too late and by then Mumbo is just too desperate to listen
