Yay!
Day 23
Well, that was definitely better. I managed to get caught up today, with everything else that was going on. I was less than 100 words from par for today. So if I can pull that off again for the next two days, I should be able to enter my words by the 25th. Super yay. If not I'll keep on going till the 30th. For today, here's my sample:
He turned circles in the room trying to figure out where exactly she was when he realized that while she was in this room, she somehow wasn't in this room with him. Papa shifted his form back to being a man and frowned deeply considering all of his options. He had no idea what had happened to cause this, and he had no idea how to break it. The most likely person with the knowledge on how to break it was the other half stuck in it and unable to be of much help. Frowning even more Papa began to pace the room thinking. While he was thinking he was talking. He wasn't necessarily saying anything important but he was just talking so that the sound of his voice filled the room as if he had a rapt audience.
Day 20.
A little short of the mark that I wanted again today, but I plan on working on it a little bit extra tomorrow so that should help out. In the meantime here's the latest taste test, let me know what you think.
She began to swim strongly towards the outer wall of the pond when she suddenly felt something brush against her ankle. She turned her head quickly to see what it was but there wasn't anything there. Momma Frog kept swimming on, clutching her golden ball to her chest, and heading up the slope as fast as she could. She felt something long and silky brush against her other leg this time, and then across her back just brushing the tips of her hair. When she turned again to look behind her it seemed to be just a current under water that was brushing across her. She shook the oddness of it off and turned her attention again to the slope in front of her.
Day 3
Alright, well so far I've added one new character in my writing. I added a bird. A Cockatiel to be exact. I'm also sitting pleasantly at nearly 4k words and haven't written for today yet. So here's to good starts, and hopefully just as good finishes.
A little snippet...
Just a little blurb. First bit of the book.
Momma was sitting there in her room, at her little table, looking out of the rain soaked window into the foggy streets below. Momma loved just sitting there, drinking her coffee, bracing herself before she woke up the Wilde children. There was never any telling what the kids would be like in the morning. Sometimes things just ran along as smooth as silk, and sometimes it was much more like a herd of elephants trying to run along a road of silk. Just like any other family the Wilde's had their drama. Only, in this family, the drama could include things getting broken, people turning into wild wolves, and things getting turned into smoldering piles of ash. Mornings just weren't quite as simple when they involved werewolves, dragons, witches, and the like.
The first day
So the first day is about over. And I did it! I'm so very happy and slightly proud of myself. I managed to write today. Not for schoolwork, not for a research project, but just for me. I wrote about 2500 words. And my story isn't shutting up yet. So I'm excited because there's more. That means, that I'll be able to pick it back up again tomorrow. That and I managed to put a little bit of a buffer in between me and that deadline. So if something happens and one of these nights I just plain suck, I don't have to over stress about it. All in all, a pretty good day.
Plotting
Alright, so the plotting is definitely going slower than the character part. I'm stuck on the little details of the plot that make it actually work. I have an idea that involves the Wicked Witch and the Evil Wizard are going to kidnap Big Sissy. The problem that I'm having at this point is that I have absolutely no idea why the Wicked Witch and the Evil Wizard want with Big Sissy. I sort of have it figured out as to how they are going to take her, at least the rough general idea. But without knowing why they want her, or where they are going to take her, it is going to make it extremely difficult to figure out how everyone else is going to go after her.
Oooh, lag.
So there's been a bit of lag on this blog. I apologize for that. It did what I really intended for this blog to do though, so I've been super inspired for the NaNoWriMo event in 7 days. So I've been working on my other blog. The book is called The Family Wilde. Take a look and see what I've got going on over there. Let me know what you think. I'll get back to this as soon as I can in the meantime. I figure it'll be an excellent place to work on the creativity when I've burnt my brain out on other things.
