Wales is probably one of the best kayaking destinations in the UK when the conditions are right. We struck gold a week ago and bagged the infamous Betws y Coed triple crown, the Llugwy, Lledr and Fairy Glen. Here’s NRS team member and local Barny Prees showing it pays to have these runs as his daily training ground.

Kayaking on a wet day
After a lovely holiday it was back to work today at PYB. Working with a family of 4 for the week delivering a range of activities. Today we decided on kayaking given the wet weather. We started in the morning learning some skills of flat water with a journey around the lake. In the afternoon they were up for more of a challenge. We started playing in a jet of water learning skills such as breaking in/out, ferry gliding, reading water, etc. Once they had a grip on these skills we carried on down the river Llugwy to Jim's bridge. This offers lots of interesting water finishing with a great grade 2 rapid at Jim's Bridge. They all did very well picking up the skills quickly and having fun.
