How exactly did Azure Lion to fall 'in love' with Macaque?

Azure's not so much actually in love with Macaque as he is in love with the idea of having Macaque at his side.

After all he is The Best, so he deserves the best and most beautiful demon around for a mate.

He always thought Macaque was a very handsome and pretty demon, but only started getting actively interested in him when he saw how many courting offers he was getting.

They live in a relatively small village along some minor trading routes, and there's Mihou getting courting offers from merchants to emperors, everyone wanted him as their's, so that makes Macaque the best.

People wanted Macaque because he's very pretty, but mostly because he's a six eared macaque, they are extremely rare to be seen just living in a random village and not under someone's ownership.

In fact, he's the only six eared macaque aside from his mom, that's available the way he is. His mom is a widow but she's also crazy so nobody wants her.

The reason why no one has just kidnapped or courtnapped him is actually two reasons.

I'm curious about mental ward AU. If Sunny Peaches is mistaken as Wukong. Does that mean there's another monkey that's mistaken as Macaque?

Nope Macaque does actually exist he's actually a frequent special guest at the ward for jttw fans because of his shadow puppet plays of the famous story.

Though he's not a huge fan of how he is betrayed in journey to the west because he never ate monkeys , never tried steal someone else's identity and definitely never died. He just didn't let the writer become immortal because at the time he was a protector for the immortal peach tree that sprouted in the mortal realm. He isn't these days because he retired to settle down with his sworn brothers and Husband. Who is a doctor at the ward.

He's also Red Boy's favorite sworn uncle.
