STILL ALIVE I’ve just been hella busy with my summer semester

It must be a bit weird to some in the LMK world to learn that the Great Buddha actually exists, while they also could care less about following a religion.

I was for a second wondering if MK [and by proxy the rest of the Crew] followed any religion, or worship...

Then thought about Tang making up a form of Worship towards Sun Wukong, because of his Buddha title.

And in reality it was just a way to keep his actually more highly religious family off his back by saying he follows a little known branch of Buddhism that follows some different ideals.

Food restrictions are more dependent on personal diet, but adding fruit (especially Stone Fruit) is a must. Partly because trying to limit a chef's menu would be cruel.

Pacifism is more a suggestion, but violence is more last resort though preferred.

They still celebrate holidays, and maybe visit a Temple every now and then, but it's not necessarily mandatory.

Well that thought wandered a bit. Oh well.

Pigsy: “MONKEY KING, OF ALL PEOPLE, HAS KIDS?!”  

Tang: “THIS WAS NOT MENTIONED IN ANY OF THE BOOKS!”  

Mei: “WHY HAVEN’T YOU EVER TOLD US THIS, MK?!” 

Ye: “HEY!” 

Everyone goes silent and turns to the quadruplets who were sitting together. Zhen and Jing are covering their six ears which have amplified the already loud shouting. 

Hui: “They are quite sensitive to loud noises.”  

Ye: “Yeah, so keep it down!” 

Sandy: “Oh, sorry, little monkeys.” 

MK: “Look, I’m just as shocked as you all. I only found out about them yesterday.”  

Hui: “Baba only found out yesterday as well.” 

Pigsy: “HE WHAT!?”  

Ye: “Ahem!”  

Pigsy: “Sorry. What do you mean he only found out about them yesterday?!” 

MK: “Look, Monkey King asked me and entrusted me to keep his kids safe and secret, and I intend to keep my promise!”  

Sandy: “Aw, that’s so sweet, MK!”  

Mei: “Kind of out of character, but his kids are so adorable!” 

Ye: “Hey, I’m fierce and formidable.”  

Tang/MK/Mei: “Aw!”  

Hui: “Way to go, fearsome hero.”  

Ye: “Yeah, yeah, point made.”  

Zhen: “I think you’re formidable, Ye!”  

Jing: “Yeah, if you’re a wooden chair.”  

Ye: “I didn’t mean to hit it with my laser eyes!” 

Pigsy: “Hey, where is Monkey King anyway?”  

Mei: “He said something about ‘child-proofing the mountain’?”  

MK: “Oh boy, training is going to be rough tomorrow.”

AUgust Day 5: LMK Spying Child Celestial AU (Macaque Edition)

Macaque helps Meng find Mk's favorite stuffed monkey in the park at 3 am.

Meng had made a mistake.

A really, really big one.

But it was for the greater good!

Earlier that day when Dadsy had taken her and MK out to the park to play with Mei. They played on the playground for hours until they were red in the face and tired. It wasn’t until the twins had gotten home and an hour into the dinner rush, that MK had realized he had forgotten his favorite monkey plush, Mr. Sunny, at the park.

Seeing this dire situation, the twins had tried to get Dadsy and Tang to take them back to the park. They both said they wouldn’t be able to go there so late at night, but they promised to go first thing in the morning.

It wouldn’t have been much of a problem if either adult had bothered to remember two minor details.

The first being that Mr. Sunny was the one that MK used to fall asleep since he couldn’t sleep with his twin now that they were ‘big kids’. The boy just needed to latch onto something familiar and comfortable, two things none of his other plushies offered.

The second thing both adults forgot was Meng was very impatient.

She hated hearing her brother sniffling, tossing and turning from the thin wall separating them. Meng would have marched straight to his door and slept with him, but she had made a promise to Pigsy and Tang not to go sleep with her twin, no matter what.

The only solution now was to get the monkey plushie and that was what she was going to do.

Meng wait until Pigsy and Tang turned off the light in their room before putting her ‘Big Girl’ plan into action. She put on her favorite hoodie and got her backpack out. The child threw in some fruit snacks, her lucky rock, her favorite roller blades and a flashlight that she found in Tang’s drawer. She carefully climbed out of the window and slowly descended the fire escape until her socks touched the ground. The girl immediately got out her roller blades and placed them on her cold feet. She needed to get to the park fast and Pigsy always said she was the fastest on wheel!

It was a couple of minutes of skating through the night market areas that she began to realize her big mistake.

Meng had no idea where the park was.

She did think of asking an adult but decided not to. What if they took her back home instead of the park? This was supposed to be a secret mission for MK! No, she couldn’t have some random adult take her home when she didn’t have the monkey!

The little girl continued her search for the park when large rain drops began to fall. Pulling her hoodie up, Meng skated over to a nearby building and stayed close to the wall to avoid as much water as possible.

A light breeze carrying the faint smell of plums passed by.

“Hey there kiddo.”

Meng jumped a bit in surprise, turning to her side and seeing a hooded figure standing next to her.

“You lost? What’s a kid like you doing out so late at night?” The figure questioned.

The girl swallowed her nervousness and tried to stand up straighter. “I’m trying to go to the park. My brother forgot his monkey there.”

The figure chuckled. “His monkey?”

She nodded before taking out a crude drawing of the stuffed animal. “He can’t sleep without it, so, I’m getting it for him!”

“And do you know where the park is?”

“… Not really, but you can’t take me back home! MK needs Mr. Sunny!”

The hooded figure hummed before muttering something under his breath. “I won’t take you back home yet. C’mon kid, I’ll get you to the park.”

“Really!” Stars almost flew out of the little girl’s eyes before she hugged the figure.

“Ack! Hey—”

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” She squealed before letting go. A twinge smell of mint hit her nose with a pleasant ‘sting’.

“tch. Just don’t let me regret it. Hold on to your bag.”

“What do you---AAAAAHHHHH!!!” The girl screamed as the ground seemingly swallowed her whole. The screaming didn’t stop until a pair of arms caught her. In the midst of her squirming and trying to understand that the pair had teleported to the park, Meng accidentally pulled the hood off of the cloaked figure.

She looked at the surprised face with owlish eyes.

“…You’re a monkey.”

The dark furred monkey raised his eyebrow and huffed. “And you’re a little girl.”

“Hey! Tang says I’m a big girl now!”

The monkey’s curled to a smirk. “Oh really?”

A long fluffy tail was suddenly wrapped around the child’s waist and hung her upside down. Meng only laughed and giggled at the action.

“H-h-h-hey! Th-that—that tic-tick—tickles!” she squealed.

The monkey huffed in amusement before placing her down on the ground. He pulled out a dark purple umbrella from his back and popped it open for the two of them.

“Okay kid, where exactly did your brother lose his monkey?”

“His name is Mr. Sunny, and I think it was over by the slides. C’mon…umm… what’s your name mister?” the child tilted her head towards him.

The monkey paused. “It’s Macaque.”

“Oh cool! I’m Meng! C’mon Mr. Macaque, this way!” The girl exclaimed as she started walking towards the playground. Macaque’s tail never left her tiny waist and occasionally pulled her back under the safety of the umbrella whether she tried to leave.

It took a few minutes of searching and small talk before they found the soaked plushie.

“Well look at that, mission accomplished then.” Macaque commented before he heard a soft yawn. Meng was rubbing her eyes and blinking a bit too long for his liking.

“Alright kiddo, time to get you home.” He raised his tail so he could have a better hold of the child before dropping into a shadow portal. The monkey dropped softly into the little girl’s room. Meng was yawning more now.

“Can you go get your pj’s Meng?” Macaque whispered as he carefully set the girl down on her bed and began to undo her skates. She nodded sleepily as she tossed the soaked plushie on the ground and hobbled to the bathroom to change.

Macaque didn’t know why he stayed with her.

Or why he insisted on drying her hair with a towel and lightly grooming it afterwards.

Or why he promised to come visit when she asked when she would see him again.

Or even why he tucked her in and stayed in the shadows of the room until the early hours of the morning.

Maybe it was just him going a bit soft after finally interacting with the powerful kid he had been observing for the past few weeks? Yeah, he was just trying to make sure his future pupil could make it pass adulthood!

No other reason whatsoever!

…

…

Meng ran downstairs the next morning looking tired but triumphant. “Dadsy! I went to the park with Mr. Macaque last night and got Mr. Sunny!”

Both adults looked slightly amused, thinking that the girl was going to be telling them about her latest dream. The amusement went into shock when the child proudly showed off Mr. Sunny to them.

The Mr. Sunny that was supposed to be at the park…

The pig demon froze as Tang nearly choked on his tea. “Excuse me?”

Meng didn’t respond immediately as she presented the semi wet plushie to her brother. “Sorry I couldn’t get it sooner, but you can sleep better tonight now!”

MK hugged his monkey before crushing his sister in a hug as well. “You’re the best! I’m gonna put it in the sun right now!” and ran off to the window to make sure his plushie got the sun rays of sunshine.

“Umm, Meng, sweetie, what do you mean about before?” Tang asked, trying to keep most of his nervousness out of his throat. Meng didn’t seem to notice and happily replied. “Mr. Macaque took me to the park to look for the plushie and got me back home! He even said he’d come for me again one day!”

“…”
